The Dayton peace accord

The 1995 Dayton peace accordinitiated to put an end to the Bosnian War. Composed of two entities, roughly of equal size: one for Bosnian Muslims and Croats, the

other for Serbs. a Bosniak-Croat Federation of Bosnia-Hercegovina, and the Bosnian Serb Republic, or Republika Srpska, each with its own president, government, parliament, police and other bodies. The agreement reached at WrightPatterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio in November 1995, and formally signed in Paris on December 14, 1995. These accords put an end to the three and a half year long war in Bosnia, one of the armed conflicts in the former Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia.

The Reality
Violations of rights within Bosnia majorly perpetrated by serbian military and

Paramilitary forces.
(Detailed) documented crimes: include
torture, mass killings, rape, forced evacuation of people from their homes, calculated attacks on civilian populations with a large number of casualties including children, destruction of numerous buildings including houses of worship and hospitals, and so on.

Civilian victims of war continued to be denied access to justice and reparations.

Visable scars, Bosnia & Hercegovina Visable scars: heavily damaged apartment block, bullet-ridden and war-torn.

Despite some efforts, the authorities failed to grant access to reparation for many victims of war crimes, including survivors of sexual violence, families of those forcibly disappeared and victims of torture.

Srebrenica massacres
Thousands of Muslim men and boys isolated from family members and massacred.

The massacre that took place in

Srebrenica (now a UN-designated "safe area" in eastern Bosnia) is known as one of the most atrocious activity committed in Europe since World War II.
Lest we forget Francis Ferdinand, the Austrian Archdukes assassination took place in Sarajevo. This triggered the start of the Great War. There is a big difference between what is being said and shown to us versus what the reality is. Although it is a beautiful region, it does not provide a fairly elevated sense of security.

Detention camps set up for non-Serbs in north-western Bosnia (the full horror of the Bosnian war to international attention in August 1992).

Camps, including this one at Omarska, were discovered in 1992
