It didnt take long, before the dancers got very, very tired. p. 10 But Princess Aya stayed wide awake. Lets dance some more! was the lovely request of the dancing princess.

(Continued on inside back cover) And so the dancers collapsed from sheer exhaustion. And they quickly fell asleep. p. 12 A magician also appeared. Vavajing! Fafazung!, he said. And ten pigeons were flying about. Ten hens clucked and squawked. Even the Ibong Adarna and the Sarimanok spread their wings! The palace was filled with all sorts of feathers, but Princess Aya stayed wide awake. p. 14 Every night, the King and Queen would try different ways to make Princess Aya sleep. But nothing worked until one evening, an old woman arrived. Are you going to sing? Or dance? asked the King. Have you a cure for our problem? the Queen asked. The old woman smiled. She asked Princess Aya to lie down. The princess did as she was told. The old woman sat down beside her, and took a book out from a bundle of things. She opened the book and began to read out loud. In a faraway kingdom, one is sure to hear Princess Aya complain at bedtime every night. Where are the pictures? I want to see the pictures! cries Princess Aya. p. 16 Close your eyes. You will see the pictures in your mind. said the old woman. Princess Aya closed her eyes. The old woman went on reading aloud. And it didnt take long before the princess was sleeping peacefully. Through the window, the moon and stars would peek at her. They are all happy because their little friend slept so deeply. From then on, the King and Queen knew exactly what to do to help Princess Aya fall asleep. (Continued from inside front cover)

At nanatili siyang nakaismid. At mabilis silang nakatulog. Sige pa! Sayaw pa tayo!

May dumating ding isang salamangkero. Vavajing! Fafazung! sabi niya. Kakanta ba kayo?
