Grade 4 Overview Sunday 27/01/2013 Thursday 31/01/ 2013. Tying into our new unit of inquiry students will be reading about a form of energy and writing a short research report about it. To better prepare your child at home you can use the internet and books about energy to learn more, or simply discuss with your child how different forms of energy work. Encourage your child to read at least 15 minutes every single night. It would also benefit your child if they are writing (could be anything, a short story, journal entry about their day) at home. Check this writing and remind them about simple mistakes ie: spelling, full stops, capital letters. 5.9-5.11 with Math test on Thursday We will be concluding our Unit 5 this week with looking at rounding of big numbers and comparing data, again using big numbers. We encourage parents to work through the revision pack and check their childrens answers at home.
Central idea: Inventors utilize energy in the development of technologies that meet the needs of a society. Lines of inquiry: The needs of a society Inventors that have impacted society How inventors utilize resources to meet a societies needs We are starting our new unit of inquiry this week. We will be unpacking the central idea and begin to look at how energy is used in our everyday lives. At home you can explore the different forms of energy within the house and outside(light, heat, electrical etc.).
