The legacy of GlaxoSmithKline is more than hundred years old. A company started in 1842 with the name of Beecham. In 1891 Smith Kline & company acquired French Richards & company, known as Smith Kline & French (SK&F). In 1989 SK&F & Beecham merged & a new company founded by the name of SmithKline Beecham. Glaxo & Wellcome which emerged as Glaxo-Wellcome as a result of merger in 1995. In 2001 SmithKline Beecham & Glaxo-Wellcome merged & as a result one of

the largest multinationals took existence by the name of GlaxoSmithKline
