The consequences of receiving a fixed term of imprisonment in terms of time actually spent in prison

A prison sentence is actually a combination of time served in prison, time spent under curfew at home and time on unconditional or conditional licence. e.g. A person sentenced to one year will do 25% (3 months) served in prison, 25% (3 months) home detention curfew and 50% (6 months) on licence.
