How did the war impact SCs economy: Devastated it, broke it, killed it, wham bamed it. Plantations: were destroyed-way of life changed. Ex-plantation owners: Lost everything that had been invested in slaves, set slaves free. Women: lost husbands -> Children had to learn to make do with less. Were the nurses and ran homes when husbands were gone. Soldiers from both sides: Died and were hurt, lost homes, sick, sad, African Americans: Were set free, but future was uncertain. Free and Slave Children: Some fought in war.
