Transforming the church from Crisis Management to Purpose Management

Greetings! My name is Donald E. Jenkins and my wife is Dr. Lily Jenkins and we are the CoFounders of the Purpose Development Institute in Atlanta, GA. We want to personally thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to see how the Purpose Development Institute can be a resource to your ministry. As a Pastor, I certainly understand the challenge of ministry and how taxing it could be on you as a person, your family and the people you serve. I believe that leaders within churches are just as important as leaders within global organizations. Its true that many churches are not funded as well as their corporate counterparts, but it does not mean that their service in less important. Its unrighteous for the vision that God has given you to suffer due to a lack of resources. Besides, God made a decision to run the government of His Kingdom through His people and churches should be on the leading-edge of helping the world discover a sense of purpose. Unfortunately, many churches are struggling to keep the doors open as leaders continue to pioneer their vision with limited resources. Purpose Development for Church Leaders is one of many resources we have at the institute. It does not deny the fact that more money equals more ministry in the communities we serve, but reveal that a better engaged leadership team equals more ministry as well. Over the years, leadership philosophy had to evolve before corporate giants realize that human capital is their most important asset and the same is true with the church. The people you serve is your most valuable asset and Purpose Development for Church Leaders is an expert purpose-oriented solution to help you manage your human capital and get the most out of your vision with available resources. We believe that the more engaged your leaders are, the more engaged your flock will be with the vision God has given you. God Bless and we look forward to serving your team.

Building Stronger Churches through Purpose Management

Purpose Development for Church Leaders

Introduction: At the Purpose Development Institute, we consider it an honor to be poised as

a global resource to build strong churches through Purpose Management, but there are some ministry facts we must consider before we can begin this process: Fifteen hundred pastors leave the ministry each month due to moral failure, spiritual burnout, or contention in their churches. Fifty percent of pastors' marriages will end in divorce. Eighty percent of pastors feel unqualified and discouraged in their role as pastor. Fifty percent of pastors are so discouraged that they would leave the ministry if they could, but have no other way of making a living. Eighty percent of seminary and Bible school graduates who enter the ministry will leave the ministry within the first five years. Seventy percent of pastors constantly fight depression. Almost forty percent polled said they have had an extra-marital affair since beginning their ministry. Seventy percent said the only time they spend studying the Word is when they are preparing their sermons. Research conducted by Barna, Focus on the Family & Fuller Seminary It appears that Pastors are feeling the brunt of a society thats driven by Crisis Management. They are having a tough time helping others deal with their crises because a large number of Pastors are struggling with their own. As a result, the Christian brand continues to suffer and effective ministry eludes communities on a regular basis. There are a lot of contributing factors in which many researchers have pinpointed, but it doesnt provide the necessary solution to restore the Christian brand and maximize ministry in the 21st Century.

Building Stronger Churches through Purpose Management

Purpose Development for Church Leaders

At the Purpose Development Institute, we believe that the Church was never meant to be a center for Crisis Management only. Our twenty-three years of studying the subject of purpose reveals that the true essence of the church is a center for Purpose Management. Our Purpose Development for Church Leaders empowers the church to become the nucleus organization that is on the leading-edge of restoring a sense of purpose to the world. We are appalled at the above stats and take great measures to equip Pastors and their church leaders with Purpose Management skills to keep their ministry vibrant and strong. Our approach to ministry is guaranteed to blow a fresh wind of purpose through your ministry to engage your leaders to feed the sheep and reach the community you serve.

Ministry Landscape: The landscape of ministry in the 21st Century has

changed dramatically and if Churches do not implement systems to manage the ever changing landscape, Pastors will continue to be stretched beyond measure in their effort to pioneer their ministries. People are savvier to what they are looking for in a church and mobile enough to obtain it. They have better connections on social media than in churches which creates new challenges for building prosperous relationships. Their schedules are more complicated which leaves very little time for church related activity and grace is under an unprecedented attack from a hostile culture. As a result, the engagement level among congregates is under attack which leaves the Pastor and a few faithful leaders responsible to support the weight of the ministry. The 80/20 rule is in full affect as many Pastors try to provide solutions through hard preaching and teaching. They fail to realize that the harder they preach and teach; the harder the culture in which people live, work to minimize their engagement with ministry related activity. As a result, people become disenchanted with messages and start seeking out other sources to feed this mysterious void, leaving the Pastor bewildered and on the verge of burn-out. We believe that Purpose Development for Church Leaders is a powerful solution to a changing landscape. Its not a foolproof guarantee that Pastors will not quit or that people will not leave, but it does guarantee an increase level of engagement for all parties involved that will change the landscape of your ministry.

Protect your investment: The price a Pastor and his or her family have to pay to minister to
Gods people is priceless. We realize that their investment is nothing in comparison to what God invested to redeem humanity, but it still does not minimize the sacrifice they have to make. Their sacrifice produces an anointing to feed the sheep, leaders to help take care of the sheep, new sheep to help grow the ministry and influence in the community. Many times the Pastor spends a considerable amount of time pouring into people to help them through a crisis situation, preparing people for leadership in ministry, visiting the sick and other related duties, making sure they are fed the word of God, only to have the same people walk out when the going gets tough. Unfortunately, there are times when people will leave a church and it might not be under the guise of God pruning your ministry or that their time was up because God was leading them to another ministry. In other words, good people do not always have to leave your ministry and there are some that need to go, but how do we provide a system that will empower them to manage their purpose for staying or leaving. A hard pill to swallow, but Yeshua (Jesus) empowered Judas to fulfill his purpose of betrayal and as ministers of the Gospel, we must empower the sheep with a sense of purpose whether they are coming or going. The reason that some leave could be that your ministry does not have a system in place to help them manage character dysfunction within themselves and others to navigate the turbulent waters of ministry. As a result, they leave only to find the same dysfunctions in other ministries. Our focus is not on why they leave, but on having a system in place to manage their reasons for leaving with the hopes of empowering them to stay and continue their engagement. The key is to get them to fully engage with their purpose before they engage with your ministry. The bottom-line is that you cannot afford to allow a mismanaged purpose to undermine your investment because too much is at stake. Purpose Management is a powerful system that gives leaders insight to the investment it takes for ministry to produce constant engagement and protection of human capital.

Crisis Management vs. Purpose Management In sports, many times the difference between being average vs. great requires a slight adjustment in the way the athlete perform and the same is true with the Church. Not to minimize the importance of a great move of God, but some times it requires a slight adjustment among leaders to spearhead a great move of God in our ministries. Our Purpose Management System is designed to maximize people processes in relation to your vision which requires a slight adjustment in the way that people posture themselves around your vision. Please see charts below: Typical Church Vision:
Visionary

Vision Leadership team Sheep Community

The typical vision for a church is positioned within the hierarchy of the ministry. As a result, it appeals to the power nature within people which proves to be counterproductive for the visionary who want to impact the community with what God has instructed him or her to do. Unfortunately, as the vision moves down the hierarchy, it loses a little steam (indicated by shades of blue) because of the pursuit of power within the hierarchal system of leadership. Everyone is trying to find their place of power so by the time the vision reaches the sheep, its difficult for them to engage because they cant see how they fit on the power grid. The problem with this structure is that the lack of purpose allows power to be drained in the wrong places. As a result, the impact of the vision is minimized within the community. Instead of being able to feed the sheep, leaders are burning out with crisis management because of the shortage of power to pioneer the vision.

Habakkuk 2:1-3 declares, I will stand my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch

to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Wow! Just reading the above passage make you realize the power of a vision when people are able to posture themselves in purpose around it. In other words, when they read the vision, it empowers them to engage with a greater sense of purpose that provides strength until the vision fully manifests. Unlike the pursuit of power model on the previous page, our Purpose Management model shifts the focus of the people to the pursuit of purpose so that the power of the vision can be dispersed properly (indicated by green lines). If people can t find their place of purpose within your vision, its because the pursuit of power is draining the life out of the vision. When people look at the vision that God has given you, it should speak to their identity so that they can become who God designed them to be. When they are able to engage with a greater sense of purpose with your vision, they should find power to overcome any character dysfunction or forces of darkness that try to challenge their existence and performance as a citizen of Gods Kingdom.

Purpose Management empowers people to cross the lines of engagement to help pioneer the vision that God has given you.

The success of any vision is measured in how strong the lines of engagement are.

Without a strong sense of purpose, people will struggle to cross the line of engagement. It takes vision to be a leader, confidence to cast a vision and purpose to get others to embrace the vision.

Egypt Community Sheep Leaders Leaders Visionary

The essence of a vision is its ability to capture a forward motion which is why it requires forward thinking (the ability to capture a vision in the minds eye and develop the necessary attitudes and behaviors to cause the vision to leap into reality). Forward thinking will never occur without a clearly defined purpose and a system to management that purpose. People will struggle to cross the lines of engagement because its outside the scope of their comfort.

Lines of Engagement: The wisdom and understanding to inspire Forward Thinking among
people to cause them to engage with a vision outside the scope of their comfort. The reason the 80/20 rule exist is because of the failure to have a system to management purpose outside of comfort zones.

The Challenge: Besides money, keeping people engaged with our ministries is one of the biggest challenges for leaders in the 21st Century. Even when money is not an issue, people still struggle when it comes to fully engaging with the vision. The problem can be summed up in the words of Rabbi Michael Munk, author of the Wisdom in the Hebrew Alphabet, Human

existence involves a constant tension between what man is his values, goals, concepts, visions, self and the environment in which he lives. He continues by saying, How well he succeeds in shaping and maintaining his identity in accordance to the dictates of his soul is the challenge and purpose of life. If we could see a picture of what Rabbi Munk is saying, it
would look like the diagram below:

Kingdom of Light Church

Kingdom of darkness Mans Environment What you are urged to be

Who you are

Man

As ministers of the Kingdom of God, we must understand that regardless of how hard we preach and teach to reveal the true identity of the Kingdom of God inside people, there are forces that work three times as hard to urge a person to be influenced by darkness. From the beginning, the kingdom of darkness exploited the weakness in Adams purpose and the same battle continues today. Its a battle of kingdoms for the soul of men to get them to execute its purposes in the earth. As a result, its mission critical that man have a system to manage his purpose based on the dictates of the Kingdom of Light. Without it, people struggle to cross the lines of engagement because they are contending with forces that require a sense of purpose to break free from its influence. In other words, its one thing to tell people who they are but its on a whole new level to activate them to overcome the tension that fight against who they are.

Rewriting the Rules of Engagement: My Purpose Management system is not designed to reinvent the way you lead people, but rewrite the rules of engagement or the way that people follow leadership. If we do not rewrite the rules, the worlds system (Egypt) will continue to minimize the impact of the Kingdom of God inside the soul of men which requires you to work harder and not smart as a leader. Listed below are some of the unique elements that we use to rewrite the rules of engagement:

I take your existing resources (people), and empower them with insight to repurpose themselves around your vision. Ministers today are not lacking vision, but they are lacking engagement with the vision they have. My Purpose Management System is designed to reveal the four hidden pillars of a vision that is guaranteed to strengthen the lines of engagement for Gods people. The fact is, people are not resisting your vision, they are resisting Divine Purpose in which I have outlined in my Purpose Management System. Every person has a resistance to Divine Purpose that can be measured and every so often, they have to work on lowering that resistance because of the influence of darkness in their lower nature. When the resistance is high, the influence of their lower nature produces character dysfunctions. My Purpose Management System is designed to lower their resistance to Divine Purpose so that people can release the potential of Gods Kingdom inside them. One of the biggest fallacy of leadership is to measure the status of peoples character in relation to the vision and minister to them accordingly. We try to motivate them based on what we see and ignore the fact that true motivation comes when they understand the condition of their character in relation to their Intelligent Design. My Purpose Management System delivers 23 plus years of studying the subject of purpose which identifies Intelligent Design in such a way to release their engagement on a new level. My Purpose Management System reveals a greater insight to your purpose as a Pastor to feed the sheep that causes them to engage with the vision on a higher level. Purpose Accountability is the hallmark of great leadership and my Purpose Management System introduces it in such a way to reduce contention in your ministry.

At the Purpose Development Institute, we live by the philosophy that you can remove people from Egypt (A world without God) but it takes Purpose Development to wash Egypt out the people. The current condition of the Church proves that we have mastered the art of getting people to shout through anointed preaching and teaching, but Egypt is a tough stain to remove. We cannot shout it out!!! It must be developed out of the character of people so that they can fully engaged with what God wants for their life. This task requires a greater sense of purpose to overcome Egypts influence. As ministers of the Gospel, we must be wise enough to know that the success of Gods people is not determined in how well we preach. Our success is in our ability to empower them to outsmart the culture they live in which constantly pulls on their lower nature. We must realize that we cannot change the culture, but we can help them manage who they are within a culture by sharpening their skills to manage their purpose. Listed below are benefits your will receive as a Pastor and how it will affect your ministry:

Ok Pastor! Lets roll up our sleeves and go to work. This press-kit was designed so that you can make an educated decision about our services which is why we went through the extent to communicate the value in this manner. Its designed for large and small ministries and for those who think they dont need it, its designed especially for you because there are times when we underestimate the power of Egypt to exploit weakness in purpose. Regardless of the success of your ministry, managing purpose applies to all. Of course theres an associated cost involved with our resources, but keep in mind that the price of not having a Purpose Management System in place might be more than you want to pay. God has called you to minister the word to feed the sheep and leave the dirty work of keeping people engaged with your vision to the experts. We have four different phases of helping you which is listed below with their associated cost:
Phase 1: Onsite training is approximately 4 hours of comprehensive training with a Certified Purpose
Development coach from the Purpose Development Institute for $1300.00. It includes an accompany workbook for certification for up to 10 leaders. Call for additional pricing for more leaders.

Phase 2: Dr. Jenkins is a Certified Human Behavior consultant. She delivers expertise in helping your
leaders fine tune their purpose with a comprehensive Spiritual Gift assessment. This is a 3 hour process and the associated cost is $750 including associated materials. This training can be conducted at a later date so please make sure you schedule it.

Phase 3: We believe that man created in the image of God is one of the most sophisticated masterpieces in the universe which is why we have Certified Purpose Development Coaches to maximize this sophistication. You select leaders to participate in a specialized certification process that further equips them to keep a fresh wind of purpose blowing through your ministry. This is a 10 hour process thats needed to help sustain the momentum of purpose for your vision. Pricing is normally $399.00 per person but is discounted for churches who have implemented the Purpose Management System.

Phase 4: To keep your leaders engaged with their purpose to support your vision, we will have several membership levels to help keep them on the cutting-edge of purpose. In this phase, you select a membership that is best suitable for your ministry.

Start a Human Capital Fund: The fact is, the church at large is hemorrhaging people. We are
building new buildings, buying cutting-edge technology to communicate our message, dressing up our online image, increasing our marketing budget to reach our target audience and still cannot stop the revolving door when it comes to people. As a result, churches are swapping members at the speed of technology while the world sit back and laugh at how we damage our own brand. You might say that $1300.00 is too much but you must consider the price you have to pay when people walk out because of a mismanaged purpose. Helping people manage their purpose will do more for your ministry than a new parking lot, building, or any technology you use to increase the effectiveness of your ministry. Full payment for all training is due a week in advance before the training. When you schedule your date for onsite training, please allow time to start a human capital campaign to cast the vision to your church and let your members give into this process to help make their church more welcoming and an enjoyable experience for all.

Call today and secure your training date and start your Human Capital Fund!!! 423-304-3386 or email pdcoach@purposedevelopmentinstitue.org
Closing Thought: Dont let the house of God burn down due to a mismanaged purpose among people!!! God called you to spend more time feeding the sheep than cleaning them, so focus on feeding the sheep and let the experts come in and do the dirty work for you. Discovering a sense of purpose is a dirty job but we have the expertise to get the job done. Stop doing it alone and reduce your chances of burning out.
