Shelby Zeller Economics Mr. Householder 14 January 2013 Economics Article: Bacon Shortages Who: Randy Spronk, U.

S Department of Agriculture What: Throughout America, it has been spread that there have been many bacon shortages, possibly leading to no more bacon. This is also known as the Aporkalypse Why: This is happening mainly because of a raise in the price of feed, as well as a drought in the Midwest. The price also rose in hog caurcuss, making hog farmers sell at a loss of 50$ a head. How: Hog caurcuss have been fluctuating between $120 and $150 per 200-pounder, and there will also be soon fewer hogs than americans than there has been in forty years. My Opinion: As for now, I am not exactly agreeing with this topic, mainly because ever since the new year has started, I have heard no complaints about bacon shorages. I also do not see how there can be a lesser number of hogs, although I hope that there will be no such thing, since it could highly raise prices of any other related food.
