I Will Be Made Whole

Health is Wealth
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:26

Health is Wealth
Health is the greatest treasure. It is the single richest possession that a person can have. Wealth, honor, or learning is bought at a great price if purchased at the loss of vigor and health. Nothing can secure happiness if health is lacking. Whatever injures the health, not only lessens physical vigor, but tends to weaken the mental and moral powers. Indulgence in any unhealthful practice makes it more difficult for one to discriminate between right and wrong: it increases the danger of failure and defeat.

The Original Diet

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1: 11, 12

The Original Diet

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. Genesis 1: 29, 30

The Elements of a True Diet

Vitamins are the bodys regulators. They are complex organic substances that are essential for growth, reproduction, maintenance of health, and the regulation of nearly all metabolic processes in the body.

Food Combining

The body cannot produce most vitamins, so as they are used up or eliminated, they must be supplied.
When several vitamins are needed for the proper operation of a certain function in the body, it is impaired if even one of the necessary vitamins is lacking. Although many vitamin supplements are available, it is best to receive the benefit of vitamins from their natural source.

The Elements of a True Diet

Choline is a vitamin that is needed to prevent gallstones, high blood pressure, kidney damage, and glaucoma. Its presence in the body is efficient in the treatment of depression due to bipolar disorder, and a wide variety of liver problems.

Food Combining

Choline should be taken with other B vitamins especially Inositol.

The richest source of Choline is found in Lecithin, Black Strap Molasses, whole grains, and legumes. Symptoms of deficiencies include cirrhosis of the liver, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, and kidney damage.

Folic Acid is the vitamin that regulates hair and skin health, the forming of the red blood cells, RNA & DNA production, cell growth and division, and protein metabolism. It also prevents graying hair. Folic acid being present in the body prevents dropsy, diarrhea, menstrual problems, stomach ulcers, anemia, radiation burns, and circulation disorders. Folic Acid works closely and should always be taken with vitamin B12. *Its benefits are destroyed by the use of alcohol, barbiturates and drugs of all kinds. Wheat and rice germ, blackeye peas, soy flour, white potatoes, and deep green leafy vegetables are good sources of Folic Acid. Symptoms of deficiencies include Reproductive problems, acne AIDS, anemia, Cancer, Candida, canker sores, cataracts, Crohns disease, Epilepsy, Gout, Hepatitis, Parkinsons disease, periodontal disease, and senility.

It can be used to make a salve that will protect the skin against sunburn and skin cancer, ozone and air pollutants like second hand smoke. Its presence reduces arthritic inflammation, increases joint flexibility, and delays wrinkles forming in the skin. Vitamin B complex, folic acid, and vitamin C are needed to assimilate PABA. It can be found in Brewers yeast, whole grain products, wheat germ, and molasses. Symptoms of deficiencies include infertility, anemia, gray hair, reproductive problems, and white patchy areas on the skin.

Back to BasicsHome Cooked Meals

All should learn what to eat and how to cook it. Men, as well as women, need to understand the simple, healthful preparation of food. Their business often calls them where they cannot obtain wholesome food; then, if they have a knowledge of cookery, they can use it to good purpose. Ministry of Healing pg. 323

Tips for Eating Healthy

Often animals are taken to market and sold for food when they are so diseased that their owners fear to keep them longer. And some of the processes of fattening them for market produce disease. Shut away from the light and pure air, breathing the atmosphere of filthy stables, perhaps fattening on decaying food, the entire body soon becomes contaminated with foul matter. Animals are often transported long distances and subjected to great suffering in reaching a market. Taken from the green pastures, and traveling for weary miles over the hot, dusty roads, or crowded into filthy cars, feverish and exhausted, often for many hours deprived of food and water, the poor creatures are driven to their death, that human beings may feast on the carcasses. Ministry of Healing pg. 314

Tips for Eating Healthy

A good diet should consist of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains. These provide us with the necessary vitamins and minerals needed to sustain life and impart strength. In choosing the foods that are best to supply the elements needed for building up the body, our appetite and taste buds should not be the only things considered.

Tips for Eating Healthy

It is vitally important to establish meal regularity. Each meal should be taken at a specific time each day. It is because we eat between meals that we do not get hungry when we should. This practice is very injurious! The digestion process takes at least 5-6 hours for completion. The digestive organs need time to rest between meals. When we snack, that process is interrupted. This is a contributing cause of constipation, which leads to other illnesses.

Tips for Eating Healthy

It cannot be stressed enough how detrimental it is to the to the digestion process, when we drink with the meal. This practice dilutes and weakens the strength of the digestive juices in the stomach. Then, instead of digesting the food, the body has to use time and energy to first remove the liquid from the stomach. Meanwhile, the food eaten begins to ferment, which causes indigestion, and other digestive disorders.

Tips for Eating Healthy

It is not necessary to eat until you feel full. In fact, it would be better if there were room left in the stomach. When we overstuff the stomach, not only do the digestive organs have to work harder, but because of the excess food, it takes the body longer to complete the process. Meanwhile, some of that food will sour on the stomach while waiting to be digested. To be full is to feel discomfort, such as feeling sleepy or uncomfortable, or when you find that you have to loosen your belt. When you are no longer hungry this means that hunger is satisfied.

Tips for Eating Healthy

Take care and try not to have anxious conversations around mealtime. Anything that disturbs your peace will disturb digestion. There is a delicate relationship between the mind and the body. Whatever affects one, affects the other. If the mind is free and happy it creates a cheerfulness that will react upon the whole system, causing a freer circulation of the blood and a toning up of the entire body. Christian Temperance pg. 28 So remember that, A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. Proverbs 17: 22

Tips for Eating Healthy

Avoid the urge to lie down after a meal. This makes the digestive organs very sluggish and it promotes obesity. In fact, it is best to have finished with eating for the day at least 2 hours before bedtime. If you should feel a little rumbling in your belly during that time, dont feed it! That is a very good sign that the stomach is empty and the digestion process is nearing completion. And because you just gave your stomach the night off, you and your digestive system will rest well and you will wake up feeling refreshed.

The Right Use of the Will

God desires to heal us, to set us free. But since this requires an entire transformation, a renewing of our whole nature, we must yield ourselves wholly to Him. The warfare against self is the greatest battle that was ever fought. The yielding of self, surrendering all to the will of God, requires a struggle; but the soul must submit to God before it can be renewed in holiness. Steps to Christ pg. 43

The Right Use of the Will

Satan has triumphed to see how easily he can come in through the appetite and control men and women of intelligence. When Satan takes possession of the mind, how soon the light and instruction that the Lord has graciously given, fade away and have no force! Ellen G. White

The Right Use of the Will

The relation which exists between the mind and the body is very intimate. When one is affected, the other sympathizes. The condition of the mind affects the health of the physical system. Ellen G. White

The Right Use of the Will

Our Lord Jesus Christ came to this world as the unwearied servant of man's necessity. It was His mission to bring to men complete restoration. Varied were the circumstances and needs of those who besought His aid, and none who came to Him went away unhelped. He came to give health and peace and perfection of character; and in body and mind and soul men were made whole. The Ministry of Healing pg. 17

The Right Use of the Will

Desires for goodness and holiness are right as far as they go; but if you stop here, they will avail nothing. Many will be lost while hoping and desiring to be Christians. They do not come to the point of yielding the will to God. They do not now choose to be Christians. Through the right exercise of the will, an entire change may be made in your life. By yielding up your will to Christ, you ally yourself with the power that is above all principalities and powers. You will have strength from above to hold you steadfast, and thus through constant surrender to God you will be enabled to live the new life, even the life of faith. Steps to Christ pgs 47, 48
