The challenges we and that of the modern families like St. John Baptist De La Salle face daily.

I admire the words of the renowned artist Carrie Underwood in her meaningful song saying This is our temporary home; its not where we belong- windows and rooms that were passing through. This is just a stop on the way to where were going. Im not afraid because I know, this is our temporary home. We are daily witnesses of how modern families are succumbed to face critical situations and how they make decisions that could be a dire factor for their survival. The daily challenges faced by contemporary families are those likely faced by our John Baptist De La Salle wherein he clearly demonstrated the importance of spiritual growth and faith. Some of the factors that gradually weaken the foundation of a family are those which do not seem to do so. Nominal Christianity nowadays is but an epidemic lifestyle that threatens the core values of Christ-like living within the parameters of the society. This phenomenon roots from the application of science known to humanity as technology and from the evolution of culture, norms and beliefs as influenced by the western civilization. Poverty, a common societal happening especially to that of the third-world countries, can nevertheless result to spiritual decay. With this material misery experienced by universal families, there is a great possibility that these units of the community will be susceptible to moral misery as well. Here, we are challenged to go deeper into our faith in God and to grab hold dearly of our conscience. Most of the problems each family is exposed to are disguised challenges to do the right thing. My family is facing all of these too, if not daily- minutely, and all families do. But when chaos breeds in chaos itself, all we ever think of is that God is making His way to us and that eventually, chaos would reveal its order. The sacrifice made by St. John in order to fit in the footsteps of Christ is a lifestyle worthy of emulation. Yes, we can say that the life we are living here on Earth is only temporary but no matter what, our footsteps, our marks and even our deeds are all permanent. And we are not only born from the womb, we are born from the heart.
