Two Way Mirror

by Frater Pyramidatus Dedicated to Thomas James Ebel I pressed this palm against your mirror In vain to touch a crying face And witnessed tears in sombre glimmer Through glass I touched a measured trace Of my fleshy plan, its faint imprint Lay etched on reflective satin A future, now of subtle hint Of life and deaths' most subtle pattern Above the shining door a name My own yet in some ancient script The letters they are carved in flame Surmounting this most ancient crypt No spirit seen so deep within This crying face so slimly framed Within a countenance hidden Two sobbing eyes that slowly aim On me to see some vision more Than twists of fate and broken smile Beyond these eyes and through this door To wait an hour and spend a while The name above, the name of God But not the letters of earthly stealth The simple ploy of an earthly man Trying to forgive himself WEYMOUTH 2013
