Flat Techie Stanley sees the elementary students and teachers enter the building (Roby ES) that

sits directly behind our building (see picture below). Flat Techie Stanley stops by the FiveStar gas station across the street almost every day to get a hot chocolate or coffee.

Flat Techie Stanley sees the old one room schoolhouse that sits to the left of the main Board of Education building. We keep this schoolhouse here as a reminder of how much we have grown as a school district and how much times have changed over the years.

Flat Techie Stanley checks the mail before he heads into the building. Since our building is next to one of the 13 elementary schools, we have to be careful not to get into all the traffic.

Flat Techie Stanley sees this sign out the left window of his car when he is driving by the building to park at the back. He doesnt go into the front of the building very often, but today, he decided to show you what the front of our building looks like.

Flat Techie Stanley checks the sign to find the Technology offices. Since the building is three levels tall, he has to find his way down to the basement.

Flat Techie Stanley is at the bottom of the ramp waiting to go up to the doors of the building. He is very excited to begin the day but cannot remember where his office is athe has to check the sign.

Flat Techie Stanley meets Sharla, our Bullitt County Board of Education secretary, before he can enter the building. He must sign-in on the computer and then she directs him to the basement to begin his day in the technology department.

Flat Techie Stanley always has to stop and say, Hello to Mr. Davis, our Bullitt County Superintendent. Mr. Keith Davis lived down by Gamaliel when he was younger and still has a best friend that lives in Gamaliel. He knows the school and area well and wishes everyone the best of luck!

When Flat Techie Stanley goes downstairs to the basement, he finds the Technology Department. He meets the technology specialists (teachers that work with the teachers and students), technology guys (fix computers, keep everyone running smoothly, set up phones, and install many tools to help schools with technology, and then he meets Mr. Jackson, his boss for the day.

Before going downstairs, Flat Techie Stanley always has to stop and load up on gum for the day. He keeps quarters in his pocket so that he can get gumballs whenever he goes upstairs to the teachers kitchen. Stanley cannot chew gum when he travels to schools, but while he is at the office, he loves to chew gum. YUMMY!

Flat Techie Stanley sees that Mr. Jackson is busy answering his phone, emailing on his computer, answering his cell phones, printing out papers for buying new technology items, and making notes on what he still needs to buy for the new schools. He is a VERY BUSY man. He has a college degree in communications. He used to be a Radio DJ (like you hear on the radio) and then began as a tech guy that helped take care of the computers. He became the boss after many years of hard work. Mr. Jackson is very busy so Stanley goes to his desk and gets ready to start the day.

Flat Techie Stanley begins the morning my logging into his computer. He prepares to check his email, answer phone calls, create documents, and work on computer programs like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MovieMaker, AutoCollage, and Photostory.

Flat Techie Stanley likes to listen to his iPod, create music, videos, and movies with his iPod and other mobile tools. He records using a microphone connected to headphones. (He has his own set!)

Flat Techie Stanley is working on new construction in our high schools and planning the technology that will go into those buildings. Wiring, computer boxes, computers, and mobile devices are just some of the equipment needed. He always has to wear a hardhat when working on construction sites.

Flat Techie Stanley LOVES the iPad. He helps use apps and programs on the iPad so that the people can show these apps to the teachers and students. His favorite apps are BrainPop, ABCKids, PBSKids, 123Sesame, Magnetic ABC, FlashCards, ABC Magic, ABC Phonics, NumBlocks, Play123, Learning A-Z, Letter of the Day, Letter Forms, ABC Mouse, ShapeBuilder, Matches, Race Penguin, Scribble, Numbers, Puppet Pals, StoryRobe, Story Wheel, SeeTouchLearn, Rocket Speller, Starfall, WordWizard, & Typing Games. He SLEEPS with his iPadWOW!

Flat Techie Stanley uses his Mini Laptop to work on papers, research sites, and get his work done when he is not in the office. He takes his mini laptop with him wherever he goes (just like his iPad) so that he can work whenever he needs. He also shows other students how to use the mini laptop in the elementary schools so they can complete their homework.

Flat Techie Stanley has to practice on tools like this ActivSlate before he trains the teachers. This slate is really cool because he can write on this while it is on his desk or in his hand and it shows up on the projector screen/board. He loves these tools and teaches teachers to use these with their students.

Flat Techie Stanley has to read books and information on websites to be sure that he knows everything he needs to about his job. If he doesnt know something, he researches it or asks questions until he gets the answers he needs. Flat Stanley NEVER stops learning and is always practicing what he teaches others. He has a college education in Teaching, a masters education in Technology, and a further degree (RANK 1) in Technology Education.

Flat Techie Stanley is getting ready to practice using the Interactive Whiteboard. He just turned the projector on and is waiting for the program to load. He is grabbing the pen so that he can write on the board just like he would write on a dry-erase board. But, this board allows the teacher to use websites and programs from the computer. Stanley is going to test out a website for the teacher.

Flat Techie Stanley is helping one of the tech guys take a computer apart and replace the memory. If you look to the left of Stanley, do you see the green sticks inside the computer? Those are called memory sticks. Stanley learned how to replace and move those sticks to help the computer run better.

Flat Techie Stanley helped Adam set up the new phones for one of our schools. Stanley is busy working on each phone and making sure they all have their own phone number and messages set up. Wowthis is a big job!

Flat Techie Stanley helps take care of all of the servers in our DATA CENTER. Our schools, teachers, and staff members use these every day when they get on the internet, save files, or talk to each other on email. This is very complicated and Stanley has lots of other people help him out. The technology guys (engineers) went to college to learn how to build a Network. They are so SMART and Stanley learns so much every day.

Flat Techie Stanley is still in the DATA CENTER and is helping the tech guys connect wires that allow schools to have the internet, phone service, email, and the ability to SAVE files. Each of those wires have to be connected at both ends just like phone lines in your house. Ask your teacher to show you what your MDF/DATA Center looks like at your schooltake a Stanley field trip.

Flat Techie Stanley helped us decorate our tree in our technology office. We are all getting ready to go on Christmas break this Friday. We want to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope Santa is good to you because you have been good all year. Enjoy your time off from school. Best Wishes, Bullitt County Technology Department
