Stardust There was a time when we were nothing but stardust.

Different as we are now, parts of us may have met before, Indistinguishable as dust mites in the light, flecks of rust On the floor. Aimless specks of life, without anything to answer for.

I would have shared your air, swam freely in the pull of your Gravity; perhaps the cluster that would become my fingertips just Barely caressed the light that would become the face I fell for. There was a time when we were nothing but stardust.

I had no feet with which to stand on the other side of your trust, In a time when there wasnt yet a word for war, You had no back to turn on me, slamming the door in disgust. Different as we are now, parts of us may have met before.

I wouldnt have had the pounding of voices in my head, calling for A leader. There was once no obligation, no duty; I was thrust Beside you instead of into battle. The two of us no more Than the combust of a star, indistinguishable as flecks of rust.

In this moment, I would prefer battle, watching my bones bust In a discordant harmony of fire and blood, than look into your Shattered expression. I ache to damn responsibility and just Kiss it back together; ignore all I have left to answer for.

They tell me the heat of combat will eventually replace your Warmth; they dont understand. Building a fire wont just Substitute the consuming heat of the sun, the light it always bore, Since a time when we were nothing but stardust.
