Lesson Review Form ECED 329 A typed lesson plan review is due to the University Supervisor one week

after teaching the lesson. Please attach a copy of the lesson plan to the review. Address each of the following points with specific examples from your experience teaching the lesson. Write in narrative form. If you did not address one of the following when teaching your lesson, explain why. If you intended to address a point but did not, explain how you would do so if given the opportunity to teach the lesson again. Name ________Jerricka Scott________ Lesson Topic _____Grouping (more/less)________ Todays Date ________02-22-13__________ Date of the Lesson _______02-15-13_________ 1. State one objective and describe the ways in which your students met that objective. Grouping- separated and classified fruits into specific name catergories; counted the number of fruit in each category and sorted the categories by amount, then used glue to paste the cut-outs on a graph. 2. Describe how you sequenced the lesson so that your students were guided from their known experiences to new learning. The students did a pre-assessment using 3D plastic fruits, manipulative which they were already familiar with, and next they applied prior learning of more/less to make their first graph of comparison. 3. Describe the kind(s) of groupings you used and the effectiveness of your use of grouping. I read the book as a whole group so everyone had the same experience of understanding, and did the activity in small groups of four to make it easier to manage early finishers yet make sure I had enough time to get the entire class. 4. Describe one way in which you addressed the individual needs of one child or a small group of children. One child didnt understand the concept of more/less, so I took extra time with her. I asked her to count two different groups and tell me which had more. Once she answered, I explained that the number 5 came after 4 so 5 is bigger which means more. When I asked her again to count and answer which had more, she got it right. 5. If your management of the lesson presented difficulties, what were they and how did you handle them? The difficulty was that some still didnt understand the concept of more/less, but I broke it down while in small groups. What I shouldve done to make it a little more easier was to present the actual activity as a whole before allowing them to make their own. 6. Describe your assessment process and the ways in which the process provided/did not provide you with an accurate evaluation of how well the children learned the content. I asked them to separate the different fruits the caterpillar ate into their specific categories, then count them and paste them on to the graph according to amount. Their sorting was a success. What I shouldve done differently was ask which had less. I was more focused on more. Maybe those that knew more may not have known less and vice versa.

7. Describe the manner in which your lesson addressed more than one of the developmental realms of the child. It addressed their ability to count as well as their ability to count. 8. Identify the dimension of multicultural education (i.e., James Banks notion of content integration, knowledge construction, prejudice reduction, equity pedagogy, or empowering school culture) that was most critical for you to consider as you taught this lesson. Why do you believe your chosen dimension was most important for this learning experience? I dont think my story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar touched a multicultural aspect. 9. When you teach your next lesson, what teaching strategy will you work to improve? Actually doing a whole group activity before small and individual group time. 10. How would you rate your implementation of this lesson? Very good Satisfactory Fair

Why would you rate your lesson this way? I did okay for my first lesson, but I had a few mistakes that Im sure I can correct easily. I was more focused on more. What I shouldve done differently was also ask which had less.
