Lesson Title: Goal Food Week: Food Plans Examples Discuss and understand healthy and unhealthy food plans. Students will access online meal plans and nutrition tips from different athletes. Students will begin sorting and organizing their notes to create their restaurant menu. Grade Level: 6th Subject: Physical Education OBJECTIVE (S) INTELLIGENCES Standard Objectives: Visual/Spatial 1. Students will be able to verbally explain and demonstrate their understanding of healthy and unhealthy food options. APK: Inform students that they will begin working on their restaurant menu today. Just sorting though their ideas and notes from that past two days. We will start with a quick game on either Zisboombah.com or they can try a new game at KidsHealth.org: Flash Game: Mission Nutrition. Provide students about 10 minutes. http://www.zisboombah.com/ 2. I Do Introduction (Direct Instruction) (5-10 min) Go over a few tips and additional information about food plans. Student will be looking up a favorite athletic or Olympic Winner from the previous Summer Olympics. They will try to find any specific food tips or plans that this athlete has developed for establish good eating habits. We Do (15-20min) Allow students to turn on computers and instruct them to try to find meal plans from famous athletes or Olympians. Work with a partner to find information. Provide student about 10 minutes. Go over the requirements for the Restaurant Menu Project. Go over the online poster that the students will use to create their menu.
