Session = Building out of the Back in a 4‐3‐3 System
* 6v3
2 * 5 Players on the outside of a 20 x 15 area
* Inside the area place a 6x6 yard grid
* 3 players from one team on the outside of this grid
4 and 1 player from the other team in the middle
* The players on the outside of the small grid stay
compact to the grid and pass the ball around. They
cannot move around the whole grid
* If the player in the middle wins the ball they pass it
to a player on the outside of the big grid.

* Players on the outside stay of the big grid now
5 keep possession but must stay on the outside but
can move around.
* The player in the middle (6) can now come out of
the little grid.
3 * If the team of three wins the ball they go back to
the small grid.
Functional Training
* 5 v 4 working with the 5
5 * 25 x 45 yard grid
* The five play out starting with #1 and score by
6 dribbling through the gates

* If the team of four win it they score by playing
the ball back to player #1.
* They can only pass it to them if they are less than
10 yards away (the line on the picture represents
that area)

* 8 v 7 plus target players

* Team of 8 play to target goals, team of 7 try to score on
the big goal
* Team of 8 have to play the ball to the deepest player #9

* When the target players receive it they must switch it to
the other side before playing it in to the other team.

* Play 8 v8 Regular games in your own groups
* Both teams play in a 4‐2‐1 (98’s & 99’s)
* Both teams play in a 3‐2‐2 (00’s , 01’s & 02’s)
* Looking to play out of the back, when the keeper has a
goal kick the opposition drop back to the half‐way line
* Look to get the FB’s into the attack, CB play width of the
18 yard box
* Get midfielders on the ball #8 & #6
Throughout the season we will be looking to get the players playing in a 4‐3‐3‐ or a 4‐4‐2 system, which
is a requirement for all Development Academies and High Level Programs related to the United States
Soccer Federation.
We also need to educate players on positions, numbers and their roles. See below
