Reflection about Sexual Orientation People have naturally various sexual preferences but only a few can actually

prefer for the normative category remain to be the heterosexual one and all the rest are viewed with aversion. Several people remain closeted because declaring ones sexual orientation meant a matter of acceptance or rejection, depending on what social influences are in favor of. It is an identity that is expressed with the society and is therefore dependent on how social forces around it work. The state and the church are particularly strong forces that have long been the basis of what should be or on what are considered normal. They are highly respected authorities but the expression of their power in this individual realm is violent and the individual is highly compensated for. The state is expected to bring about order and justice and I cant imagine the justness of laws that bear special clauses for say homosexuals as an example. Does one sexual preference have anything to do with their character, which will for example be argued as the justification for the special treatment of their category? I certainly think that there is no such thing. These partialities of the state are to be remedied for it does not exist to be in favor of anything or anyone for rather it is for everyones interest and therefore for everyones protection. No matter how strong one wills to be this or that, he will never be such so long as his society does not permit it. Being gay, lesbian or bisexual is meaningless if it cant be shared with all the rest of society. It is not therefore a question of who or what determines sexual orientation but rather if one does learn of his sexual tendencies, who will be there to support and respect it? The discovery of this sexual tendency arrives upon ones experience of the social but it is not a journey worth taking if it isnt what society expects of us. Society will eventually make the choices for us and therefore what we should do is to inform them of our condition, defend our identity and fight for our recognition. If we are successful, society will grow to understand and it will no longer resist our expression. Only in this social sphere can sexual orientations be respected and therefore be worth discovering.
