Eligibility All participants must be 12 years or below as of first day of January of 2003. Scoring of Competition Papers The total marks for the First Round paper will be 150 marks which will be allotted as follows: Questions 1 to 10 : 4 marks each Questions 11 to 20 : 5 marks each Questions 21 to 30 : 6 marks each There will be no deduction of marks for errors or omissions . Marks will be awarded for correct answers only.

Instructions for Participants 4.1 All participants must report for the competition in full school uniform. 4.2 All participants must bring along their student identification cards, bus concession cards or passports for identification purposes. 4.3 All participants must bring their own stationery. 4.4 The use of calculators or mathematical tables is not allowed during the competition. Prizes 5.1 Individual Prizes 5.1.1 Gold Award Certificates and medals - the top 5% 5.1.2 Silver Award Certificates - next 5% 5.1.3 Bronze Award Certificates - subsequent 10% 5.2 10 Individual top ten 1st Prize: $500 and 1 medal 2nd Prize: $300 and 1 medal rd 3 Prize: $200 and 1 medal 4th 5th Prizes: $100 and 1 medal 6th 10th Prize: $ 50 and 1 medal Five Honourable Mention Awards and a medal each to five outstanding participants Team Prizes - ranked according to the total score of their top three First Prize: $1000 in cash 3 medals 1 trophy for the school Kong Chian Challenge Trophy $500 in cash, 3 medals 1 trophy for the school

THREE Honourable Mention Awards (with 3 medals each for each team) will be awarded to three outstanding schools. The Champion school keeps the Challenge Trophy until the next competition. It may be kept permanently by the school which emerges champion for three consecutive years. 6. Results of the First Round (Local Competition) will be published in the web one week after the competition.
