Having Fun with my Kiwi Group!

Child: Yamin Date: March 2013 Written by: Teacher Natasha (Head Teacher) Kia ora/As-salamu alaykum Yamin and whnau,
The over two classrooms has started a special kiwi group time every morning from 10:50am for our two year old classmates. Yamin you appear to really enjoy the opportunity of learning alongside and with a smaller peer group of friends your own age. During Kiwi group time you practice social skills such as sharing and turn taking while exploring language, math, science and independence as we

enjoy each others interests. After group time we go outside for a free play opportunity. I notice you are now choosing to play alongside some of your kiwi group peers, using some of our sharing strategies we practice during group time.

Review of learning Yamin you have demonstrated your ability to cope with changes within the daily routine to me. I can see you are settling in well, accepting and taking part in our class daily routines while understanding the limits and boundaries of acceptable behaviour. Yamin you are demonstrating a sense of self and others through your participation in our kiwi group time experiences. You are starting to play alongside peers other than your sister in both parallel play and a little bit of co-operative play as you respond to others. By using our sharing strategies you have transferred the learning that occurred at group time, demonstrating the ability to apply past knowledge to new situations!

Review of Learning Yamin I have enjoyed watching you gain more confidence with your peers at preschool. Your teachers will continue to offer you plenty of opportunities to freely explore interests alongside and with the smaller kiwi group as well as with younger and older peers.
