A representation of a molecule that shows how the valence electrons are arranged among the atoms in the molecule. The principle that describes the electron configuration for hydrogen where it shares two electrons. The principle that states that atoms tend to combine in order to have eight valence electrons (same electron configuration as a noble gas). A pair of electrons that are shared between two atoms forming a covalent or polarcovalent bond. Electron pairs in a Lewis structure that are not involved in bonding. A covalent or polar covalent bond in which one pair of electrons is shared by two atoms. A covalent or polar covalent bond in which two pairs of electrons are shared by two atoms. A covalent or polar covalent bond in which three pairs of electrons are shared by two atoms. A condition occurring when more than one valid Lewis structure can be written for a particular molecule.
