Upward Bound Summer Residential Tutors


Make a lasting impact in the life of a high school student. The Upward Bound program at USC is a federal educational support services provider. Our mission is to help students succeed in school so that they will be able to accomplish their goal of going to college. Job Description Tutors will provide assistance in English, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and/or Chemistry, Biology, Physics subject areas Tutors will work with local high school students by assisting them in test preparation, homework completion and development of study skills individually or in small groups. Assist in reviewing concepts, comprehending content, and clarifying difficulties with assignments. Tutors must have patience and the ability to communicate effectively with UB students. Provide encouragement to assist students with developing, maintaining, and enhancing study habits. Must also have good interpersonal skills and experience working with high school students Qualification Must be a current undergraduate/Graduate student Must be at least sophomore standing Minimum 2.5 GPA Must have a valid driver's license Must have access to a car and be willing to drive to school sites in South Los Angeles Area Must enjoy working with high school aged students Working Hours Up to 20-30 hours per week Available tutoring sessions: Monday Friday @ USC Campus: o Morning Session: Desire times: 7:30 am - 12:30 PM & 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM (dinner will be provided) Starting rate: $8 + DOE Candidates should submit a resume, cover letter indicating interest and summarizing qualifications, and a list of three references, Deadline: May 6, 2013 How to Apply: Email a cover letter and rsum to Adriana Gutierrez gutie2@usc.edu
