160G Ultra-high Speed Transmission

B k Background d and dM Motivation ti ti
-Ultra-high speed transmission systems become the trend for future optical communication. - High-speed systems employing the NRZ and RZ modulation formats are susceptible to intrachannel nonlinear effects thus degrade the transmission distance. - The phase-modulated signals possess high tolerance to nonlinear effects and filter impacts, so the phase shift keying modulation formats become the focus in advanced modulation format research.

The research results on 160G advanced modulation format

- For the first time the alternating phase (including Pair wise Alternating Phase CSRZ (PAP CSRZ) and Group Alternating Phase CSRZ (GAP CSRZ ) at 160 Gb/s are demonstrated, c may ay meet ee the e de demands a ds o of next e ge generation ea o u ultra-high a g speed op optical ca networks. e o s which - It is proved that the combined amplitude and phase modulated signal have better performance in nonlinear tolerance than OOK signal in high speed communication systems. - The proposed modulation formats are robust to nonlinear impairments, enabling longer transmission distance and higher spectrum efficiency. The main results were published in IEEE PTL and IEEE/OSA JLT, which were also presented as invited talks in the international conference such as OFC, APOC, ICO, and ICOCN. This work attracted interest by the experts in this field.
