In above setup of magnets the smaller magnet experiences a repelling force when soft iron plate is moved downwards by applying external force. In this case the force required to move the shielding plate will be very less because it will be moving within the surface of the pole with uniform magnetic field and not removed out of the pole. Whereas the small magnet used as piston experiences a huge repelling force, generating considerable amount of energy which will be transferred to the flywheel.
