ABSTRACT

World wide Authentication has always been a major challenge in all types of examination which becomes critical especially in online examinations. A finger print scanner makes it very easy to verify.The main objective of this project is to authenticate and to maintain attendance by collecting fingerprints using fingerprints scanner. The use of ink and paper to get an image from a finger was used for a long time, but technological advances have enabled to automate the acquisition stage by means of solid-state sensors. This system is fully controlled by the Finger Print Module (current SM630) and Microcontroller (Atmega 168). The user has to press his fingers on the module and press a switch for verification, if the verification is done, the microcontroller will open the gate with the help of a motor driver. If the finger print of the user is not found in the database, the gate will not open. Therefore microcontroller based fingerprint authentication system provides accurate authentication ratio even to small-size/wet/dryfingerprint. Our system is made for offline examination, it will be equally applicable for online also with some modifications. It is economical too due to low voltage consumption.
