Appointments made to Self-Insurers Security, Second Injury Fund, Silicosis, Dust Disease, and Logging Industry Compensation Fund Board of Trustees
LANSING, Mich. Gov. Rick Snyder has appointed Michael Reid, of East Grand Rapids and reappointed Douglas Green, of Shelby Township, to the Self-Insurers Security Injury Fund, Silicosis, Dust Disease, and Logging industry Compensation Fund Board of Trustees. The Self-Insurers Security Second Injury Fund, Silicosis, Dust Disease and Logging Industry Compensation Fund Board of Trustees is responsible for all law assessments relating to benefits paid by the Funds Administration as well as administrative and litigation costs. Each fund makes its own assessments within its specialty range. The Second Injury Fund and the Silicosis, Dust Disease and Logging Industry Compensation Fund assessments are paid for by insurance companies and self-insure employers while the Self-Insurers Security Fund assessments are made against only private self-insured employers. With their level of experience, I am sure that Douglas and Michael will be objective and serve the Board effectively during their term, said Snyder. Appointed: Reid has extensive litigation and management experience. He is the Director of Litigation, Subrogation and Medicare for Accident Fund Holdings, Inc. where he manages workers compensation litigation across the country. He also has extensive practice with Medicare issues and data analysis and claims systems. Reid also represents the insurance industry on the state advisory board for vocational rehabilitation. He earned an A.B. in philosophy from the University of Michigan and a law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of law. Reappointed: Green has more than 20 years of management, design and administrative experience. He currently serves as the manager of Health, Welfare and Occupational Health for DTE Energy Company where is manages design and administration of medical and prescription drug data. He

is also a HIPAA privacy and security officer. Green earned his B.B.A and M.B.A. from Wayne State University. He will continue to represent employers that are authorized as self-insurers. Reid will fill a vacancy on the board and represent employers who are authorized to act as selfinsurers expiring April 30, 2014. Green will serve a four-year-term expiring April 30, 2016.
