CAMPAIGN UPDATE MARCH 29th - APRIL 5th 2009

SERIOUS HEALTH CONCERNS

Su Su Nway (labour activist), is feared seriously ill. She was
seen carried back into prison after having been in hospital. She
was reported to be looking pale. She was born with a heart
condition and needs to be released immediately so she can receive
proper medical treatment.
Min Ko Naing (88 Generation leader), is reported to be suffering
from high blood pressure and immobility in his hands. He is not
allowed to take exercise and can feel pain, but does not sweat.
There is no doctor in Kentung prison where he is currently held.
He must be immediately released so he can get medical attention.

*These are only two out of eight who are in seriously bad health.

FBPPN! CAMPAIGN ACTIVITY IN INDIA; India has been very busy with meetings and action to try and raise
awareness about FBPPN! They held a sit in protest outside of the parliament buildings with a street play. A
plan for a hunger strike is pending.

PHILLIPINES CALLS FOR RELEASE OF ASSK
On April 2 2009, the Philippines’ foreign secretary,
called for the release of all political prisoners within
Burma.
Romulho called for the junta to free Aung San
Suu Kyi and all NLD members. After their release they
should be able to have unconditional participation in
free elections.
He stated that by fulfilling their commitments to
democracy and human rights, they would be made
credible to the world community and also their own
people.

PRISONER NUMBERS CONTINUE TO RISE
Despite international pressure to release
all political prisoners, sentences continue to
be handed out. In the month of March 2009,
22 were arrested and 42 were sentenced.
