Cervical spondylosis Cervical spondylosis is a general term for age-related wear and tear of the discs in the neck.

It also contributes to cervical osteoarthritis in the facet joints, or joints that link the neck bones. Symptoms include pain, stiffness and muscle spasms. The condition is common in people older than age 55. Treatment may include medications, therapy, surgery and the use of soft collars. Cervical spondylosis may compress one or more of the spinal nerves, reduce the diameter of the spinal canal, and eventually lead to permanent disability. Hypoparathyroidism Hypoparathyroidism is a rare condition in which the body secretes abnormally low levels of the parathyroid hormone. The hormone regulates calcium and phosphorus in the body. This leads to low ionized calcium levels in the bones and a higher amount of phosphorus. Treatment includes taking supplements to normalize the levels of the two minerals. Depression Depression is a medical illness that usually requires long-term treatment. Symptoms include a feeling of sadness or frustration, loss of interest in normal activities, insomnia or excessive sleeping, changes in appetite, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, and unexplained medical problems such as back pain or headaches. Treatment may include home remedies, medications, counseling and therapy.
