I= Introduce P=Practice M=Master A=Apply Theme 1: Technology Ethics NETS 5: Digital Citizenship Student will be able to: Demonstrate proper care and use of technological equipment. Participate in an acceptable use policy. Treat all computers and all technological equipment with respect. Recognize ownership of own work and respect the work of others. Theme 2: Keyboarding NETS 6: Technology Operations and Concepts Student will be able to: Properly use a mouse. Become familiar with relative position of keys on a keyboard. Type and recognize own name. Use proper exercise programs to flex fingers and have correct hand form. Identify home row on the keyboard with proper finger placement. Demonstrate the use of special function keys: enter/return, space bar, directional arrows and backspace key. Launch (open) and exit (close) an application. Type words per minute according to grade level: 3rd (15 wpm) Grade Level x 5 = WPM 4th (20 wpm) 5th (20 wpm) Theme 3: Research Skills NETS 3: Research and Information Fluency Student will be able to: Identify appropriate sources of information. Identify appropriate key words for the research subject. Utilize key words in researching. Evaluate websites for accurate research. Cut and paste information from an electronic source into a personal document complete with proper citation. Use Boolean searching techniques to select research information (use of and, or, not parameters). Theme 4: Graphics/Presentation Skills NETS 1: Creativity and Innovation Student will be able to: Create and modify word art. Add an image.

Name and save a file to the hard drive or student share drive. Print a document. Open an existing file, edit and save the file. Format: Centering. Format: Font style and point size. Format: Bold, Italic and Underline. Theme 6: Internet NETS 2: Communication and Collaboration Student will be able to: Open an e-mail program. Retrieve and read an e-mail. Reply to an e-mail message. Compose, address and send e-mail. Use hypertext links. Open a web browser. Enter a Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Use search engines. Identify the rules for surfing the internet safety. Write a suitable comment on a blog posting. Theme 7: Multimedia/Video Student will be able to: Define the basic elements of a multimedia presentation. Insert a graphic from clip art into a document or presentation Add images from a digital camera into a presentation. Use prerecorded sounds to enhance a presentation. Create a digital story. Technology Curriculum Theme 8: Programming/Animation Student will be able to: Identify and describe the function of the major components of a computer system. Control computerized objects and characters through programming. Assemble and operate simple machines to achieve different kinds of movement. Model and simulate the design of a complex environment by giving direct commands. Create animated images using the computer. Add animated images to a presentation.
