INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE INDUSTRY:

India is a developing country, which now concentrates more on industrial sector. Through India begins an agricultural country, due to over population, the agricultural produce is not enough to entire population individual has a personality of his/her own. Similarly every organization has its own personality, its unique set of characteristics or properties. Our primary needs are food, clothing, shelter and energy. Textiles serve the clothing requirement for an individual, the home and country. In recent years, there has been growing demand for our textiles and clothing both at home and abroad. The growth of the textiles industry largely depends on the work of our professional personnel. There ingenious technologist have invented and refined new methods of serving our clothing needs. Textile industry in India accounts for around 7 percent of the countrys GDP and about a fifth of the total industrial production. It contributes 14 percent of value addition in the manufacturing sector, and about a third of the countrys foreign exchange earnings come from this sector. Over the years, Indias per capita availability of cloth also increased from 17.3 sq.m in 1980-81 to about 19.3.sq.m. In 1996-97. With a rapid change in global textile trade in the recent year and the ATC coming into place, 1985 textile policy of the government needed a much-deserved review. The government set up an Expert Committee in July 1998 under the chairmanship of extextile secretary S.R Sathyam to evaluate the existing policy and recommend measures for this sector to face global challenges. Though the report was submitted to the government within the stipulated six-month period, little effort has been made after that to implement the recommendation sowing to unexplained reasons. Industry sources feel that the suggestion for de-reserving the ready made garment (RMG) section from its present status under SSI sector has compelled the government for such an inordinate delay in its implementation. Also the Committees recommendation for immediate repeal of SSI reservation to the clothing and knitwear segments and removal of the textile items from the purview of Essential Commodities Act, 1955, except for raw cotton, cotton seeds, raw jute and jute textiles, has not been quietly welcomed by certain segments in the Industry. India has been hard-put to realize the export potential of its cotton yarn surplus due to the current quota restriction in the developed countries. And back at home, the

government imposed a number of obligations on the textile industry which proved uneconomic for the industries in this sector.

POLICY STATEMENT OF THE COMPANY

The country's textile policy was last specified through the Textile Policy Statement of June 1985. Prior to this, the development of the textile industry was guided by policy announcements in March 1981 and August 1978. The stated objective of the textile policy of 1985 was an increase in production of cloth of acceptable quality at reasonable prices to meet the clothing requirements of growing population. In pursuit of this objective, the employment and export potential of the industry were also to be kept in view. The national policy is a broad statement and covers every aspect of the textile industry. However, in order to cater to the specific needs of individual states, there is a felt need for a State Level Policy. As evident from the introductory paragraphs above, the textile industry continues to play a vital socio-economic role in Tamil Nadu. Hence, the need for a dynamic, growth oriented policy is all the more important. The objective of our State textile policy will be to produce textiles to cater satisfactorily to the quantity, quality and price requirements of both domestic and international markets, keeping in view the industry's potential for employment. In an increasingly globalized economy, industries will have to be more market-driven than ever before. Therefore, any strategy designed to meet this objective will have to start with the markets and work backwards. This involves identification of markets, the products for each market and the inputs required for each product including the raw materials, technology, human and financial resources and the institutional arrangements required to link and deliver each of these effectively. Simultaneously, value addition at every stage should be enhanced so that the producers have a sound motive not only to continue, but also modernize and upgrade their technology and skills. The unifying themes which will therefore run through this process will be greater measures of "Market-orientation" and "value addition". Wherever Government desires to encourage an activity, they will do so primarily by providing infrastructure support and escort services in all cases except where specific financial support is contemplated.

Production and Marketing of goods and services are the fundamental objective of an organization can be a manufacturing unit or a service organization. In a manufacturing organization production is an important act of producing something in an organized manner. Thus irrespective of the nature of organization production is some act of transformation i.e. inputs are processed and transformed into some output. Main inputs are information, material and land, labour and capital.

THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF A PRODUCTION PROCESS ARE 1. Optimum use of resources at maximum cost.
2. Manufacturing the desired quality and quantity of goods and services.

PROCESS OF PRODUCTION

Simplex Spinning Raw Material Mixing Cone Winding (Or) Blowing Auto Coner Carding Packing Drawing

Doubling

Ribbon Lab Comber

Reeling Silver Lab Packing

MIXING

Different types of raw material i.e. cotton are mixed together.

BLOW ROOM;
The machine heats the cotton and it removes the dust and seeds. Then the cotton will be sent to the Air processing pipes. The pipes are divided into two ways and sent to two machines The lap rolls length is 55 meters, weight of the lapis 25 Kgs (or) 25-50 Kgs. 340 rolls are produced per day.

CARDING
The important process is done by the carding machine. The carding machine is also called the Dust removing machine. The lap roll is in inserted into the carding machine. The carding machine is used to remove the Dust 1 Seeds from the cotton. For purifying the cotton, the purifying cotton, the cotton is then 1 like ropes. The Drum will be able to occupy 3500 meters. Once the 3500 meter of cotton ropes are produced the machine will stop automatically. One drum will be filled with in the span of 20 minutes. The carding machines are run simultaneously. The roll cotton height is 280 meters per drum. In this carding function three important machines are there Lap Former (Silver lap, Supper lap) Lap Former (Ribbon lap) Comber

LAP FORMER: (Silver Lap, super Lap)

The purpose of this machine is to convert the silver into small lap. For silver lap machine many number of card silvers are fed. They are doubled and converted into small lap. The small process is earned out in super lap machine but withdrew frame slivers.

LAP FORMER (Ribbon Lap) 6 Nos. of the laps taken from the sliver lap machine are created in R lap machine are drafted to convert into ribbon lap. This is to improve uniformity of the lap. COMBER
The purpose of the comber is, 1. To remove the short fibbers present in the material to maximum extent.

DRAWING
The drawing machines are used to improve uniformity of the sliver and to increase the parallelization of fibers doubling increase the uniformity and drafting increases the parallelization of fibers. Sliver cones from previous department (carding) are fed to this drawing machine. The same material is processed twice in the this machine. The drawing sliver is then compactly deposited in the can to enable easy transportation to the next department called simples.

SIMPLEX
Drawing slivers are fed to this machine. They are further drafted in this roving frame and the thickness of drawing sliver is reduced by about 10 to 12 times. The emerging material is twisted by an element called flyer to improve the strength of roving e.g. 60s comber can be twisted into 14 inch/m this process. The roving is packed in a plastic bobbin about 12 kgs for easy transportation to the next department called spinning.

SPINNING:
This is the final stage where yarn is span. Here the spinning machine converts roving into yarn. The thickness of the roving is reduced by 20 to 30 times depending on the count of yarn the delivered material then passes through the travelers and then winds on ring tabs. The travelers rotate on the rings and insert twist in the yarn. The yarn is then compactly will on plastic tupes called cop. The weight of cop wills about 60 to 65 grams.

WINDINGS
Yarn in the ring tabs has to be wound on the cones to send to market. The cores will have longer length of yarn. Spinning cop is fed in the peg of the winding machine and then yarn is passed through the slb catches and tension disc. Then the yarn is wound on a paper plastic cone. At the slab catches some faults in the yarn are arrested and some then by the tension discs. So the cone yarn quality will be better than the ring cop yarn.

AUTO CONER
Here the ring cop changing takes place automatically. Further the provision of electronic cleaners arrest the yarn facilitates to a great extent. Splices are used to join the ends and hence there will not be any knots in the yarn. The electronically cleared and spliced yarn is wound on plastic or paper. Cones which are driven by the drums. The quality of the auto coner yarn will be far better than manual winder yarn.

PACKING

Cones taken from manual winder or auto coner have to be packed. Then coner cheeses are covered by polythene bag and then they are packed in lesion or HDPE Woven bags or cottons. The no. of cones in each package will vary depending upon the requirement. The packages are then stenciled with required details and kept in yarn godown.
