1. Find a Charity that Interests You 1.1. Contact them describing who you are, what team and league you play for, and how you plan on fundraising for them. 2. Goal Setting 2.1. Set a goal for how long the fundraising period will last for and how much money you plan to raise. 3. Manage Donations 3.1. Some charities will give you the ability to start a fundraising page so all donations made will go directly to the charity; that way you dont have to handle any money and people feel safer about making a donation. If the charities website does not give the option of setting up a fundraising page than there are other sites that allow you to create a fundraising page as long as they work with your chosen charity. Consider: 3.1.1.1. Pay Pal 3.1.1.2. Just Give 4. Promote Your Fundraiser 4.1. Share the fundraiser on all of your social media outlets; always add the link to your fundraising page. 4.1.1. Ideas on how to promote: 4.1.1.1. The hockey team you play for will more than likely have fan pages on facebook and twitter. Send out an update-or tweet-to those fan pages so your supporters can help you help your community. 4.1.1.2. Create a facebook page for your fundraiser and invite your friends to Like the page. 4.1.1.3. Share on any sites such as Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. 4.1.1.4. Send out updates on your social media pages at least once a day so everyone in your network has a chance to see what youre trying to do.

Ideas on how to set-up and manage your social media fundraiser

4.1.1.5. When creating updates ask your network to share your cause on their social media outlets so more people will see what it is your trying to accomplish. 4.1.1.6. Most charities will have a website describing the kind of work they do and interesting facts on how their work makes a positive impact. There may even be information on how the charity uses the money donated to them. Share this type of information with your network when creating an update about your social media fundraiser. People want to know what organization their donation would be going to and how their donation would be used.

We could also provide alternative ideas on how to bring in other sources of funding for your initiative. 6. Managing your Social Media Fundraiser Day-to-Day 6.1. This was a checklist we went through everyday to keep our social media fundraiser current and to keep everyone following us intrigued.
