Teaching approach assigned and short description:

- Social Constructivist approach to learning teachers ask focus question and the students discuss in three groups one of the three questions listed above. They then reflect as a group to the other groups and comments are added and questions are asked to extend their understandings. The students then split up in two groups and come up with their own ideas that enable them to develop a meaning advertisement of what it means to be sustainable and energy efficient. This demonstrates collaboration between groups and allows students to construct their own meaning from the discussions. Key Australian Science curriculum Standard (taken directly from the website): They develop a view of Earth as a dynamic system, in which changes in one aspect of the system impact on other aspects; similarly they see that the growth and survival of living things are dependent on matter and energy flows within a larger system.
