II. INTRODUCTION A. Overview of Business My company name is Simply Perfect Planning. When thinking of a name I knew I wanted to use an alliteration with some form of the word Planning. When people want their event planned they want it planned perfectly. By placing the word perfect in the companys name it will attract many customers. Each word in my companys name has a purpose to its place. When people are planning their event of their choice they do not want any complication. People want a smooth event and that is why I chose the word simply. I chose perfect because everyone wants whatever event they are doing to turn out perfectly. The word planning is just to let people know what the business does. B. Simply Perfect Planning Slogan My slogan for my company is Planning to Your Perfection. My company is represented in the slogan by using the idea of perfection in both my companys name and slogan. Customers will remember my company by catching people with using the letter p in the slogan. People will also remember my company because of the perfection that they will get from using my company for their event. I will be able to receive more business by catching the ear of people with the slogan. The slogan will make people ask questions about my company and search for more information. My logo is one simple flower that is clean line. It represents my company because it is sleek and professional. I chose black letting to accent the orange flower and I chose the orange flower to brighten and attract people. C. Simply Perfect Planning Mission Statement

Our mission is to take the stress off of you and plan what you need in the best possible way. I want people to be able to give me their plan and vision for their event and for them to trust me to do the best I can for them. When customers hear my mission statement, I want them to come to me expecting the best event planning that they can get anywhere. Also, I want them to know without a doubt that they are getting the best service possible and have it planned exactly to their liking III. ANALYSIS OF THE BUSINESS SITUATION A. Self-analysis

My personal business experience is that I have been involved in Student Council for four years. I have been the President of my class for three years. Currently, I am the Student body President of my school. For my schools worship team I have helped plan and work together to lead the worship in our chapels. I have been involved in teaching a Sunday school at my school. My personal business experience has been involved with a lot of leadership roles. I have also helped a family friend plan her wedding in the summer of 2012. Leadership, time management, and my socials skills are my strength in working in a business. I have grown up always being able to lead people and groups into getting a job done. I will be able to lead any group that someone puts me with to success. Organization is like my middle name. Being punctual and having things planned well in advance is how I like to do things. When events need to happen I can get them done because I have everything prepared and ready to be accomplished. My mom has always been a talker and I have also been given the gift of being social. When problems arise with customers, being able to talk through the situation and work it out is important. In those situations I would be a great asset to a business because I am not afraid to talk to anyone. Time management can be my weakness. When things are not

prepared or if the people I work with are not organized as I am, that can make me stressed. Another weakness that I have is that I like to know exactly what I am doing and when. If I am not aware of everything that I am doing that can also cause me to be stressed. When I am put into a leadership role, my main purpose is to get the things done that are put before me and also to make sure everyone knows exactly what they have to do. Leadership requires responsibility which is a skill that I have. I can get things done in a timely manner, with the job done well. Working with people and being able to assist people in getting their task done is a leadership quality that I have. Organization, communication, and dedication are my three main ways I handle leadership. My leadership style is full-rein. Without one of those qualities I believe that being a leader is a hard task to do. Each of the qualities that I have, all help in the purpose in doing the job in the best manner possible. I am planning on finishing my senior year in specialty marketing and entrepreneurship. I am using this class to equip me with the tools and guides to help me in my career that is ahead of me. I am planning on going to college for non-profit administration. After college I would like to get a job in some event planning company whether it deals with planning town events, or planning things in the business world. Once I am settled financially and with all the skills that I need, I wish to open up my own event planning business. B. Trading area analysis 1. People will not be able to see where Simply Perfect Planning is at, and therefore not necessarily know it exists. Grand Rapids may have some money floating around, but many people are not wealthy. If people are not wealthy, many will choose to plan their own events, rather than paying to have an event planner. Also because Simply Perfect Plannings office space is located in a building, I do not think that the competition will come into effect IV. PLANNED OPERATION OF THE PROPOSED BUSINESS/PRODUCT/SERVICE A. Proposed organization

15

1. Type of ownership For my business I would use the Sole Proprietorship. An Advantage is my company will get all the profit, and I can make all the decisions. Being in a sole Proprietorship my company can get some tax breaks. A disadvantage is it can be overwhelming. My company takes on all the risks and is not protected. Something that I can do to safeguard myself is keeping a close watch on finances. If I watch my money closely I may have a better handle on my company. 2. Management Development and Structure For my company I would like to use both a Horizontal and Vertical management. If I combine both structures I can take the good things from both managements and use them to further my company. I like the idea of someone being the head of the company and transferring down information like the vertical one, but then I like the part of collaboration and selfmotivation from the horizontal chart. A positive about the vertical management is you know people are getting the job done because the people in charge and constantly checking up on the employees. A negative about that is people arent free to do as they want and move from one group to help another or to use ideas from another management area. A positive about the horizontal management structure is it takes self-motivation from each employee. If all your employees are self-motivated you know your company will accomplish many goals. A negative about this is there is not a lot of leadership in the structure which can lead to dysfunction. When it comes to planning, I want to create a prosperous company and something I will do to have this is by creating an achievable goal. By setting goals people will have a standard that they need to reach so my company can be prosperous. Also, I want to set standards for my company such as being diligent with the time that is given and keeping a company calendar to

16

organize my company. To monitor my employees, I would do monthly evaluation and meetings designed to make sure people are accomplishing the things they need to do. The duty of the CEO will be to make sure jobs are getting done, and leading the company by serving in every area. Finance has the duty to deal with everything with money. They will help with the future planning of the company to make sure it is prosperous. Marketing will try and get the company out into the public. Management will help with the company as a whole. They will help with planning the events, and they will collaborate with the finance group to manage the money in the companys best interest. See flow chart below:

3. Customer Service Philosophy Customer philosophy is important to attract customers and retain them. By having a good philosophy within the company, it will allow the everyday life of the employees to transition

17

over to customer service. Simply Perfect Planning wont be surrounded by customers all the time, so continuing the philosophy all the time will enhance it when customers are around. 4. Principles of Philosophy a. Positivity Expressing a great attitude to other employees and customers is a key item in the work place. Positivity leads to more production. If employees can produce more events and be able to help customers more often, more profit will be made. Using positivity gives more of a chance to enhance a company. b. Encouragement Encouragement is important to boost others day. When people bring other people down and criticize others, it weakens their work ethics and habit. Encouragement boosts confidence. Encouragement helps everyone do better. c. Confidence Without confidence, no employee can produce and present events to customers. Confidence improves the mind quality. A person is more proud of their work and willing to present more ideas to help the company. d. Love Striving for love within an organization provides the opportunity for employees to see eye to eye. When employees judge and do not care about other employees it doesnt allow good

18

workmanship to happen. Love helps employees to work better with customers and other employees. e. Company Atmosphere Simply Perfect Plannings company atmosphere will be energetic and fun. As planning can get tiring, we want the employees incentives and fun things to help enjoy the work. If the employees enjoy their job a little bit more, then they will work harder. Fun events for employees of Simply Perfect Planning will be birthday parties, and holiday parties. Incentives will be offered for employees that can plan most efficiently and please the customer. An idea for a reward would be a free lunch. f. Company Culture Simply Perfect Planning believes in the customer and all employees to be treated with respect. We want our customers and employees to leave feeling that their ideas were expressed and respected and cared for. We want our customers to come to one of our consultants and feel that they have found their perfect event within our company. Simply Perfect Planning will be known for their respect and care when working or taking care of a customer. Our events will be planned to our best ability with the best venues, caterers, flowers, etc. with the best price possible. g. Recruiting and Keeping Customers Simply Perfect Planning will recruit customers through ads in newspapers and advertisements on the radio. We will use word of mouth also to help get customers. We will retain customers by offering the incentive to recommend our company to friends and then

19

receive a twenty percent discount on their next event with us. We will also use our care for our customers to show how much we appreciate them. If customers realize they are cared about, they are more likely to return to the same company who cares. Simply Perfect Planning will care and respect for their customers to retain and recruit them. B. Proposed service 1. Details of services a. Product line Simply Perfect Planning will offer four product lines. The product lines will include: Celebrations, educational, promotions and commemorations. Simply Perfect Planning will provide these four product lines that can be general enough for people to customize for their liking of their own event. Each product line will offer multiple types of events they can choose from or create if needed. Offering these main events attracts every area of life. By offering these four main lines it allows people to choose what is best for their occasion and be able to adapt to what they want. b. Product Depth The main product line of Simply Perfect Planning will be the celebrations. Celebrations are things that people have come up in their life all the time. The depth that Simply Perfect Planning will offer to customers will be parades, weddings, reunions, anniversaries, birthday parties, celebration parties, and holiday events. Each of these events can be altered to tailor each persons lifestyle. All the events under the main product line contain the same planning style which was just listed. For all the main product lines Simply Perfect Planning can help plan the whole event, run the day, collect all the information and plan it and let the organization do the

20

rest, or the customer can tailor the event to what they want. Customers have the opportunity to pick an event they want and work with Simple Perfect Planning to make it perfect for them. c. Feature and Benefits

Features Being there the whole day Offer multiple options of catering

Benefits Allows me to personally fix problems that can happen quickly Allows the customer to not have to choose a place if all they want is

Offer multiple options of floral and technical companies

options on something Relieves stress in having to pick one. By offering multiple options they can choose on that fits their price range and style

21

2. Product Packaging Information Perfect planning and organization is what Simply Perfect will be known for. I will create a binder that allows the customer to have perfection when they bring home the information that has been planned. The binder will offer a place for reminders, an organized place to keep information, and a pocket to keep things from getting lost. I will also provide papers within the binder that list all my information of the company and my contact information. That will allow my customer to have complete access to a perfect event. This binder will be durable enough to last through the whole event and beyond. A person can use this binder for many other things and by having the label on the binder, many people will see it. I will include a paper that will tell the customer that if they are not satisfied with the event that Simply Perfect Planning can refund up to 50 percent of the event. That will reassure my customers that I will do my best at each event to make sure there is quality throughout the whole event. C. Proposed marketing strategies 1. Proposed pricing policy Simply Perfect Planning strives for affordable events. As Simply Perfect Planning looked at the economy right now and the money people have left to spend, we realized that people wanted something that was affordable. All the events that Simply Perfect Planning plans will be at the highest and best quality we can get for the budget given. The events will be perfect with and even more perfect price. Simply Perfect wants to make everything for your event the best way possible. Simply Perfect Planning will use bargain pricing to help out our customers. We want to provide the lowest price possible for our clients. There will really be no technical mark ups or mark downs because every event will change with the clients budget and what they

22

want from the event. Offers may come up for cheaper events but that is all that will be offered. Other event/wedding planners in the area such as RSVP events and Pearls events are more on the higher expensive end with prices. Simply Perfect Planning will be different than them in the fact that it will have an elegant feel with a good price to help the clients. By pleasing the customers and still making a profit, Simply Perfect Planning will be able to keep customers happy for years to come. 2. Proposed promotional program Simply Perfect Planning will use a promotional campaign to attract customers to the business. The promotional campaign will allow people to find out: who the company is, how to find them and what we do. The promotional campaign will persuade people to come to Simply Perfect Planning to use the service. Customers will be able to find out all they need to know from these advertisements. a. Objectives Simply Perfect Planning has three objectives to complete for the first year of business. The three objectives are: to have 5 prospective people to come to my business to have interest in an event within the first month, to have 10 customers recommend Simply Perfect Planning to a friend and get business from that and offer that customer a discount during the first year, and book 3 events for the first month. I believe that all of this is attainable and sets good goals for the company. The three objectives will keep my company moving on track. b. Promotional Timeline The timeline is put into place to make sure the promotions come in the correct order. The company will open on July 23, but in the beginning month month of July we will start with the

23

magnets. Simply Perfect Planning will start off with something that people will be able to keep, magnets. That will stay in a common place and when people get to know they business, the magnet will remind them of the company. Then we will start with our facebook page. We will get known through customers who like us and share our page. When people see our name on facebook they will begin to know the company a little bit more. After that will come the radio advertisements. People will already recognize our name a little and become more familiar. And the last advertisement section will be the print. We will be able to get out name in the eyes of the public. Through all of this we will attract customers, bring new ones in and book more events. Simply Perfect Planning will begin to advertise in July before big holidays come for more events. See the timeline below:

c. Cost of Advertisements For one print advertisment in the Grand Valley Advance, it would cost $50. The newspaper comes out only once a week. For the whole month of December, Simply Perfect Planning will place an add in the paper. It will come out about 4 times which would end up being $200 total. The add will be in black and white to save money. The people in which it is being

24

read by will attract customers to the company because this area most likely is not short on money. d. Media Costs To hear something on the radio allows customers to recognize your company when they see it. Simply Perfect Planning will place their commercials on the radio. The radio stations that they will air them on are 99.3 and 104.5. The two stations that they will be played on will attract people from all over. 104.5 will cost $135 for a 30 second add. The add will be played Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 8 at night for a week and again two weeks later, and the same for 99.3 but their prices are $203 for a week. For two weeks on 99.3 it will be $406 and for 104.5 it will be $270. e. Specialty Media Simply Perfect Planning will give out calendars with the Simply Perfect Planning logo on it. The cost for that will be $1.37 per one. I am going to buy 100 of them and it will cost $137. It is a little pricy for the item, but because this item will remain in common places of peoples household, it is worth the cost of the product. People will see the logo and remember who the company is. This will attract customers to the company. Also on the magnet it will say something about recommending a friend on it. It will tell customers that if they recommend Simply Perfect Planning they will get 20% off their next event. f. Bugdet costs

25

g.

Print Advertisments Simply Perfect Planning will attract people to come to the company through print

advertisements. The print advertisements will be sent out regularly to attract at least 5 customers to the company. The advertisement that is made is to attract brides. Attracting brides will allow more business to come in. We will try and place these advertisements in emails and newspapers

h. Broadcast Media Simply Perfects broadcast advertisements will begin with a woman talking about the perfect planned event. She will say Events planned by Simply Perfect Planning will be planned

We will advertise it on 99.3. Those stations will attract customers of the correct age. i. Social Media The social media choice Simply Perfect Planning will choose is to advertise through Facebook. Simply Perfect Planning will attract people of their target market. Simply Perfect Planning will advertise the share our business to a friend concept. We will try and attract people to our new company and urge people to like and share us on Facebook. We will offer incentives to new customers to try and get more business. j. Specialty Media The special give aways that Simply Perfect Planning will do is magnet calendars. We will give these away to prospective customers and customers. 1. Planned Finances Simply Perfect Planning will begin with $7,000 of my own personal savings and a $20,000 loan. I will be putting 7,000 into my company to make sure that I will be able to take a loan out. Taking a loan not too small but not too big will allow me to pay it off and still have enough to make enough profit. Simply Perfect Planning will be in the positive after 7 months because of the loan and investment I am putting in. 2. Repayment Plan

Event planning is a business that can be hard to start up in the beginning but once started and the word is spread, one can begin to make more of a profit. I thought in that mindset and thought that within the few months I will make a profit but it will be small. The months profits will also grow with holidays within special months. For example, December has the most profit because there will be more events going on. Renting allows me to save money and because the cost is not too high it keeps the operating costs low. Most of the miscellaneous items will not cost too much money because I am providing a service. Within my first year the months with the most profit will be months with major holidays in them. Every year it will remain the same way during the holidays. After my first year in business I will be able to be more known and raise my prices as more customers come in. In the beginning I will begin my company with a simple start. The loan payments will consist of $300 monthly and will be paid off in the 24th month. Desiring to keep start-up costs low I will begin in a simple way. Eventually as the business grows I will begin to expand, buy more products, and have employees. VI. CONCLUSION Simply Perfect Planning is an event planning service that specializes in wedding planning but offers all types of events. Events that are planned specifically and specially for each person will allow for uniquely perfect events for the customer. Customers will be treated with our very best service and will receive our unique one of a kind planning. I am asking for $20,000 from the investor to help start my company. Every year I will give back to the investor 25% of my net income for five years. The investor will end up doubling their money they put into my business and make some. Simply Perfect Planning will bring to customers the perfect touch to simple planning to make their events the best that they can be.
