Quality Assurance Plan for E-content "Zakat in Islamic Education book"

Done by:Wafaa Al-rawaas (87188) Iman Bait Said (89815) Omayma AL-yafai (86001)

Overview:

E-content is valuable to the learners and also helpful to teachers of all individual instruction systems. E-content is the latest method of instruction that has attracted more attention to gather with the concept of models. (Duraisamy.K Surendiran.R). The content developed for e-learning is very different from the classical one - the print based. Preparing quality e-content delivered digitally is probably the major aspect for long term success. It is the content, however, that learners care for and they judge it with how much they learn from it. (Markovska, Bekim Fetaji Nada Pop-Jordanova Jordan Pop-Jordanov Tatiana Zorcec Silvana, 2007) The overall goal is to invest the impacts of E-content and the effectiveness of its outcome at the end of the lesson to ensure the quality of the e-content. We are going to gather, arrange, select, and define information of quality assurance for e-contents. Evaluation is done constantly, both during development and delivery. (Duraisamy.K Surendiran.R). So once we had agreement on the purposes of our assessment initiative and the content areas, we began to work on selecting an assessment instrument for programs to use on our research. The specific recommended measures and assessments we selected decide whether the course is effective and satisfies the course objectives. This step considers feedback from learners, Questionnaire for teacher and interview Students. Also for the curriculum we will use checklist and observation to determine the suitability of the environment. These are the most appropriate steps to be taken in consideration to measure the quality and the assessments are more suitable to evaluate the effectiveness of the e-content.

The process of Quality Assurance we adopted for our plan is to go through all the elements included in which we going to assess people, instruments, surrounding

setting, and the program. We collected our information from different resources to

gather as much as we can of data about what we are intending to do to have large background of the field we are in.

Personnel:
Since we applied in fact only one lesson in e-content format it was a small number of stuff to assess. So we chose (4) teachers of 7thgradefrom Islamic Education in Um Saad School to participate and (60) students from grade 7. In order to make sure that the teachers level in using the technology will not affect as an external factor on the research results, we provided questionnaire that describes the level of teachers in Umm Saad in the use of technology. Accordingly to that, the classes where the e-content will be applied will be selected (appendixes1). As for the students, we have interviewed them for their opinions about the e-content and their extent of acceptance as well as which they prefer textbooks or e-content.

Curriculum/training:
Goal: Ensuring the quality of e-content. This training measure the effectiveness of e-content over textbooks and the objectives we want to achieve is to determine which is more effective. Performance objectives: 1. Show the role of technology in improving the learning. 2. Using different types of methodology for learning. 3. Enhance learning and teaching process. 4. Motivate students learning.

5. Makes learning more effective & interactive. Resources: The resources below were used to make good content and display it with all the facilities in interesting way. These resources such as:Online resources: www.YouTube .com Offline resources: Islamic Education book. Human resources: Subject Matter Experts, The teachers of Islamic Education. Hardware: computers, CD&LCD. Software: moviemaker, PowerPoint, Microsoft word, storyline program, visual basic program. Tool: We gave subject matter expert a checklist to ensure the quality of the e-content and give us their feedback to improve it (Appendixes2).

Environment:
The learning environment is in Um Saad School in Muscat region. Implemented of e-content was conducted in LRC (Learning Resource Center). This was equipped with all needed materials and tools. The size of the center was suitable for contain 80 students. The screen was large and all the students in back seats can see what is on it. The center was also equipped with AC to not let the students feel uncomfortable. The lighting was suitable for all the learners which allowed them to take notes. All the factors which can affect the results were removed. The

characteristics of the students are:Audience: student's grade 7 in Um Saad School, Gender: Female. Age: 12 years old. Language: Arabic. We observe that the students have cultural diversity and they are from different regions, such as Albatenah, Alsharqia, Dhofar, and Muscat which mean they come with different backgrounds.

Conclusion:
The role of the quality is to ensure that interrelated processes are properly coordinated toward predefined goals (Kheterpal, 2005). There were a lot of obstacles that we have encountered in implementing of e-content which led to make us took more time than planned. Also teachers were not assistants and collaborators with us because they were not willing to take this step of implementing the econtent, but they were more convinced in using the textbooks more. In addition, they didnt want to change their way of teaching because it will take them a lot of time and effort as they said .They did not have positive attitudes toward using econtent instead of textbooks. In other side, the students were not taking the interviews seriously. The strength points in the plane were the e-content was evaluated by subject matter expert, also the equipment were provided already at school.

Our recommendations for the future are: Implementation of the e-content on a large sample to verify the credibility of the results. The project have to include easy of instructions for teachers. Provide guideline by using (storyline) program or any other program with same features. Simplify the navigations of the e-content.
