Hip problem-the old chestnuts

Case 1: ? leave or graft

Cyst in the femoral (MRI) head, 60yo F.


CT showed same. No pain. What to do?

Case 2: ? explore/excise

Repeated episodes of groin pain. 9yo F. MRI shows cyst in ant. Fem. head. CT
same.
ESR and CRP now normal but rise with groin pain episodes. Aspiration hip grew
nothing. Responds to antibiotics when painful. What to do?

Case 3: ? replace now and ? technique


OA in dyplastic uncovered hip ( L >> R). 43 yo F. A worker. In agony.
? replace ? technique ? re surface

Case 4: OA hip

OA hip in CT, 58 yo M.

Case 5:

Bilateral coxa vara. OA 2nd Perthes.38 yo, M. Severe left groin pain.
Huge technical challenge with his obesity, youth, narrow stems.
Case 6:

61 yo,F, with OA. Previous shaft Fx with ORIF. For THR- post-lat approach.

Std post-lat incision. Reaming the acet.

Preparing the shaft. Closure.

THR. Non-cemented. Tight fit.

Case 7:
Old acetabular Fx, painful, for THR. 80 yo,F.
