The Bells Of Sagrada Familia

Commissioned by the Horikoshi High School Wind Orchestra, this piece reflects and expresses the Sagrada Familia as a symbol of Jesus' life. His birth, devotion, passion and Gloria are the central themes that can be found in the history of this Roman Catholic Church, which is constructed in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. This church was designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. He used the same passion and devotion since the construction started in 1882 Using a special theme in a new Yagisawa choral movement, the sound of the Sagrada Familia has found its place in this magnificent work.

To Be Vivid Stars
This fantastic work was commissioned by Kanto Gakuen High School for their 50th anniversary celebration. It was premiered by the school band and guest conducted by Takeya Sakai in December 2008. The main idea of this piece was to set the school band and individual students as Star s with a wish to brighten the school band and individual students like a Star in the sky. Yagisawa composed this piece based on a script created by the students, Young individual members grow up through many experiences under the guidance of their instruct or, Keiko Fujishima, to finally become a bright constellation in the Sky.

Satoshi Yagisawa
Satoshi Yagisawa was born in Iwate Prefecture in 1975. He was graduated from the Department of Composition at MusashinoAcademia Musicae. After he completed the master's course of music at the graduate school of Musashino Academia Musicae, he devoted himself to his studies as a research worker for two years. He studied composition under Kenjiro Urata, Hitoshi Tanaka, and Hidehiko Hagiwara. He studied trumpet under Takeji Sekine and band instruction under Masato Sato. Satoshi Yagisawa composes awide variety of music including orchestral music, chamber music and chorus. His compositions for band that dramatically describe the World Heritage Sites and nature are very popular.

Recently his compositions have been introduced and well received overseas including the 12th International Conference of World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) in Singapore 2005. In 2003, he arranged the theme music for the 54th National Arbor Day in Chiba Prefecture (music for planting and sowing by the Emperor and Empress of Japan). In 2005, he arranged the music for Japan Inter High School Athletic Meet held in Chiba Prefecture. Satoshi Yagisawa participates a wide variety of activities including judging for competitions, conducting as a guest conductor, instructing, and writing forvarious music magazines. He is one of the most vigorous young composers in Japan now.
