Safety: List safety considerations and your plan regarding them.

No safety concerns. Procedure: (step by step) Beginning: How will you introduce this activity? The teacher will tell a flannel story adapted from the book Leave me Alone. Today I am going to tell you a story about a dinosaur who didnt feel good. He feels sad but I dont know why. I asked him but he doesnt want to tell me. Do you guys want to know what is wrong with him? I will start the story: This is David the small t-rex he is just sitting down all by himself. The triceratops comes and says The flannel story will be the replica of the book but with dinosaurs. Once the story is finished I will tell the children. Why was David sad? Do you still think he is sad? Why is he happy now? Do you think because of his friends that stood up for him he feel happy. How would you feel if you were David? I will call 2-3 children and then I will release them to groups. When I call your name stand up. I will call the groups and ask them to eat food like a dinosaur. Middle: List open-ended questions that the teacher could ask: Once we are all in our groups I will say to them: Why was David in our story sad? Did he have any friends to play with and cheer him up? If you were a dinosaur what kind of dinosaur would you be? Why would you be that dinosaur? Would you be a big dinosaur or a small dinosaur? Why? How would you feel being a big/small dinosaur? What would you do if you were big/small? Would you be mean like the big giant t-rex in the story?

Would you use your words to hurt other peoples feelings? I will then put them in Davids position. What would you do if you were a very small dinosaur and someone did not want to play with you or was mean to you? How would you feel? Do you think other dinosaurs would come help you feel better? What if you saw another dinosaur who was being mean to another small dinosaur would you do something? I will then give them paper and writing utensils Here is some paper for you guys to draw a picture of yourself as a big or small dinosaur. End: Plan for Clean-Up and Transition: I will observe the children while they draw their picture and say: What are you drawing? Are you a big dinosaur or a small dinosaur. I will give them a five minute warning that we will clean up in five minutes. If you are finished with your picture you may put it in you cubby and come back to the table. Okay guys it is time to go put our pictures in our cubby. Then come back like a happy dinosaur to the blue line.
