Community and Service

This area of interaction allows you to consider how you engage with your immediate family, classmates and friends in the outside world as a member of these communities. Through different activities, you can learn about your place within these communities and be motivated to act in a new context.

Your reflection on Community and service Create an overview of your commitment to community service so far this year. Include a description of the activities in which you are involved. Explain how these experiences have affected you and impacted others.

To me, I think that community and service is a nice way of showing that you care about your community and to show that you can do certain things without being paid. This year, I did one hour of community and service at the LCCHS grads of last years ceremony and I gave out pamphlets to the parents. I also did a few hours of community and service by doing the can food drive with another high school. I felt good doing that because I knew that I was helping others and doing it without any reward.

These experiences have affected me by showing me that you can help out a lot of people by just doing simple things ,like what I did . I also learned to work as a team because we were many students and we had to find the best way to go door to door asking for food for the can food drive in a respective way and to be patient , and to also not miss any doors .

These experiences have impacted others by showing that students can be independent and be serious about helping out. I also think I impacted others by showing that those who have a lot should at least give a little to the ones that dont have much , during the can food drive .

Health and Social Education

This area of interaction delves into the range of human issues that exists in human societies, such as social structures, relationships and health. During the five years of the programme, this AOI will help you to find out how these issues affect societies, communities and individuals, including yourself. Through the area of health and social education, you can identify and develop skills that will enable you to function as effective member of societies, as well as learning about how you are changing and how to make informed decisions that may relate to your welfare.

Reflection on this AOI

Which health and social issues affect my age group? How were they approached so far this year in the school? One of the health issues that affect my age group is smoking. When I am at school I see people of my age go outside and smoke . I am so shocked because they are all so young and are already poisoning their bodies. Some of them think they are cool but it really makes me sad to see them doing that. I think that the school should get more involved because it is affecting other students that do not smoke to do things they dont want to do . I am a student that will never even think of doing such thing but others are more

influenced .

The social issue that affects my age group is definitely the social networks (facebook, twitter, YouTube). Everyone is very familiar to at least one of these. I think it is nice because we can communicate all around the world and get a lot of information but the issues are bullying and not getting enough physical exercise . A lot of people are getting bullied this way because people can say anything without saying it to their faces and just doing it threw their screen, this often leads to suicide . Also a lot of people are not getting enough physical exercise because we are all just sitting on our sofa with our electronics on one of these social networks .We used to play outside and go to the park but now everyone is addicted to the social networking . This is a issue at almost every school .

Which other issue(s) should be addressed in this school for your group age? Why do you think so?

An issue that should be addressed in this school for my group age is the physical fights. At our lunch time , sometimes people get into fights and it takes at least ten minutes before someone gets involved and most of the time the students get excited and want to see it but I think this is an issue that should be solved.

Environments
This area of interaction considers how human interact with the world at large and the parts we play in our environments. It extends into areas beyond human issues and asks students to examine the interrelationships of different environments. Both immediate classroom environments and global environments are to be considered.

Reflection on this AOI How did I affect my environments this year? How did my environments affect me?

I affected my environments by participating in class discussions , participating in school activities , and giving my opinion on certain things or people .

My environments affected me by making me do more things and get involved in different things like when I joined drama club I wasnt sure what I got myself into but now I am happy that I joined because it is something I look forward to do .

Human ingenuity
This AOI deals with the way in which human minds have influenced the world, for example, the way we are, think, interact with each other, create, find solutions to and cause problems, transform ideas and rationalize thought. It also considers the consequences of human thought and action.

Reflection on this AOI What have I created this year in school that I am the most proud of? Why is it so? In science, I created a model of the atom sulfur. I am proud of it because I put a lot of effort into it and I really did my best and I made it all by myself . I did a lot of research to make it look the best it can be. While I was making it, I also was considering the fact that I was curious about all the people that discovered these amazing theorys and facts in science so that made me do even more research just for my own knowledge . When I was done my project I looked at it and I was very proud of it .

Chose two attributes that you feel that you need to develop for the rest of this year. Explain why you picked these two attributes and how you will work on them for the rest of this year.

I feel that I need to develop the attributes of reflective and risk-takers .I picked reflective because I think that I need to give thoughtful consideration to my learning and my decisions and to understand my strengths and weaknesses .I picked risk-takers because I want to learn how to approach unfamiliar situations and explore different things.
