Your Senior Column: Part One

Assignment: Based on Justins column, you are going to write your own piece about your expectations for your senior year. The structure below outlines Justins work. You can follow his structure or come up with your own. REMEMBER - You are going to write a column based on what your expectations are for this year; in April or May, you will rewrite this column and make changes based on what youve learned throughout this year. Remember your title as well. Come up with something that will make people want to read what you wrote. Keep this appropriate enough so that it could be printed in a school publication.

Paragraphs 5 & 6: Discuss the focus of your life right now. What choices are you making? What is your plan for this upcoming school year? Be specific. Paragraph 7: Discuss your future. In the last sentence, create an image that ties your discussion to your thesis or to the beginning of the column. INCLUDE A TOP 5 LIST:

Due dates and format: This is due Thursday, August 29th in class in hard copy form; however, I would also like for you to save a digital copy somewhere for access later. Your column should be typed. Try to imitate a magazine or newspaper format. Utilize columns and pictures if possible.
