IEC 60601-1-1: "Medical electrical equipment Part 1-1: General requirements for safety Collateral standard: Safety requirements for medical electrical systems". In Denmark : Elektriske Installationer Strkstrmsbekendtgrelsen, and in particular Afsnit 6A, kap. 7.10 The Prisma Medical electrical switchboard has been developped in the scope of those standards and, thus, is the perfect solution for group 2 medical location class <0,5s, as defined per Afsnit 6A :
Operating theatres Operating preparation room Operating plaster room Operating recovery room Anaesthetic room Intensive care room Heart catheterization room Angiographic examination room Premature baby room
Prisma Medical uses state-of-the-art Schneider Electric components (circuit-breakers, medical transformers, insulation monitoring, TAC automation) which are being used successfully in hospitals all over the world. The Prisma medical panel is divided into several areas : Cable connection area (type 1 : connection to a centralized UPS, type 2 : connection to a local UPS, type 3 : connection to redundant centralized UPS system) TAC automation area, connected to a touch screen panel and/or a building management system. The 24V supply possesses a 1-hour battery that guarantee that, even in case of major electrical outage, the medical staff is kept informed and traceability is possible. TN circuit breakers area, to feed medical equipment not meant to be on the IT network (Negatoscope, shutters, peripheral lighting) Insulation monitoring device for Medical IT network (including resistance visualisation, variable threshold and fail safe mode) IT circuit breakers area, to feed medical equipement of the operating room. Up to 28 outgoings of 10A or 13A can be installed
Isolating medical transformer (6,3 kVA, 8 kVA and 10 kVA) and a battery charger that feeds the automation part and the touch screen panel in case the panel is running on a UPS during a main power shutdown Wiring & busbar : A minimal distance of 10 cm is maintained between cables when they belong to different grouding system (TNS / IT) or datas, and when they cross, this is done at right angles (in order to ensure grounding and EMC).
The screens smooth surface makes it easy to clean and it is designed to withstand the aggressive cleaning agents commonly used in operating theatres. Additionally, the touch screens innovative ergonomics are particularly well suited to medical staff needs. All the essential data for supervising the operational status of the theatre can be viewed on a single display. Upon opening the operating theatre, nurses can quickly: check the temperature, humidity and ambiant air over-pressure test the insulation monitoring system adjust the intensity of peripheral lighting check that the theatres electrical power supply is operating normally during the operation Prisma Medical alerts the surgical team in real-time of any faults, indicating their seriousness, so that the team can take the right decision.
Prisma Medical also provides theatre managers with access to the information they need In real-time, the operating theatre manager can view the status of all operating theatres and receive alerts for all current failures right from his or her PC. For each individual theatre, the manager can print out an operational report for the surgeon with environmental data and a date-stamped list of any alarms. The data logged by each operating theatre controller are automatically saved to the operating theatre managers PC for data archiving and traceability. Prisma Medical gives operational staff easy access to essential data Operational staff both at the hospital and off-site are informed in real-time of any alarms with an indication of their seriousness. Prisma Medicals integrated Web technology makes accessing information from a cordless phone or PC easy. Maintenance managers can access information for each operating theatre via a PC connected to the hospitals Ethernet network. No special software is needed.
Status of insulation monitoring A fault is indicated by an orange light, along with a buzzer sound coming from the touch screen
The medical team can acknowlegde the alarm by pressing this symbol (this will shutdown the buzzer sound)
This symbol indicates alarm acknowledgement by the maintenance team. It allows the medical team to know that maintenance team is aware of the problem
Overpressure indication
Relative humidity control Available if Prisma Medical connected to a Building Management System
Ventilation of the operating theatre can be shut down Available if Prisma Medical connected to a Building Management System
Light from the Prisma Medical touch screen can be reduced when medical team does not want to be disturbed by the light of the screen itself
Peripheral lights of the operating theatre can be switched on/off, and then can be regulated by a dimmer in the Prisma Medical (optional)
Main view Operating Theatre view Accessible from a PC equipped with TAC Vista, the Operating Theatre view gives the same view as the touch screen, with additional information when selecting the operating rooms : - List of events (a report can be created between two dates, including list of events, temperature and humidity curves) - List of alarms (on going alarms, acknowledged alarms, ) - Configuration of controlled variables (temperature, humidity, ) Electrical Infrastructure view Accessible from a PC equipped with TAC Vista, when selecting an operating room, the Electrical Infrastructure view gives, : - A simplified view of the electrical installation - List of events, link to electrical datas - List of alarms (on going alarms, acknowledged alarms, ) - The configuration screen for the electrical installation Maintenance View Accessible from any PC in the hospital equipped with a web browser, it gives access to the operating theatre and the electrical views, but without reporting capabilities (event log).
