1. Determine the displacement, velocity, and acceleration of the mass of the spring-mass system with k = 500N/m, m = 2kg, x0 = 0.

By neglecting the mass of the column an assuming the Youngs modulus of reinforced concrete as 30 GPa, determine the following. a. the natural frequency and the natural time period of transverse vibration of the tank b. the vibration response of the water tank due to an initial transverse displacement of 0.3m c. the maximum values of the velocity, acceleration.

4. A viscously damped system has stiffness of 5000 N/m, critical damping constant of 0.2 N.s/mm, and a logarithmic decrement of 2.0. If the system is given an initial velocity of 1m/s, determine the maximum displacement of the system

6. A body vibrating with viscous damping makes five complete oscillations per second, and in 50 cycles its amplitude diminishes to 10 percent. Determine the logarithmic decrement and the damping ratio.

7. Draw the free body diagram and derive the equation of motion using Newtons second law of motion for the system.

8. Three springs and a mass are attached to a rigid, weightless bar PQ as shown in Fig below. Find the natural frequency of vibration of the system.

9. Drive the equation of motion and find the natural frequency of vibration of the systems

10. A TV antenna tower is braced by four cables, as shown in below. Each cable is under tension and is made of steel with a cross-section area of 3x10-4 m2. The antenna tower can be modeled as a steel beam of square of side 25mm for estimating its mass and stiffness. Find the towers natural frequency.
