BACKGROUND OF STUDY

English is as Lingua Franca= Means of Communication for non-native speakers of English Mastering in English Anxiety, Shy, Fear to have a mistake Silent periods Suggestopedia was derived by Dr. Georgi Lozanov the institute of Suggestology in Bulgaria.

How can Suggestopedia enhance students speaking proficiency at first year students of SMP Negeri 12 Malang? Will Suggestopedia method have positive attitude toward students speaking proficiency?

To describe whether Suggestpedia method can enhance students speaking proficiency at first year students of SMP Negeri 12 Malang. To describe whether the Suggestopedia method have positive attitudes toward students speaking proficiency.

Theoritically, the result of this study is expected to provide useful information which is about about students prior knowledge in speaking proficiency through the suggestopedia method. Practically, for English teachers , the writer expects this study will be useful and give some contribution to improve the quality of students speaking proficiency.

The limitation of this study is solely focused on enhancing students speaking profiency through suggestopedia method at first year students of SMP Negeri 12 Malang.

Suggestopedia is a teaching method which was introduced by Georgi Lazanov. It deals with the use of classic music, comfortable environment, and teachers performance. Enhance is improving or increasing of somethings or someones quality, value, or extent of. Speaking Proficiency is measuring or assessing someones speaking ability. First year student is referred to as Freshman year. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Student) SMP Negeri 12 Malang is as the subject for examining students speaking proficiency at first year students in 2012/2013 academic year through suggestopedia method which is located at Jl. S. Supriyadi No. 49 Malang, East Java-Indonesia.

3.1 Research Design ( Classroom Action Research )/ (CAR) adapted from Kemmis and McTaggarts model 3.2Research Setting and Subject of Study The researcher will take the CARs object in SMP NEGERI 12 MALANG at first year students in 2013/2014 academic year. The total number of the classess are eight classess. The subject of this research is VIIA. The students of this class is 38 students. The researcher will assign VIIA as the subjects of study because they have difficulty to speak English and the class situation more suitable to apply Suggestopedia method.
