Individual Counseling Counseled students K-8 utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solutions Focused Therapy, Functional Behavior Assessments, Systems Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to address depression, assertiveness issues, self-esteem, cutting, poor academic performance, peer pressure, nutrition, substance abuse, sexuality, social issues, family issues, physical abuse, homelessness, and behavior issues. Counseled numerous students in short-term crisis situations such as classroom behavior, student conflict, and bullying. Group Counseling Facilitated a weekly girls group for 7th grade girls focused on nurturing self-esteem. Topics included body image, self-worth, setting boundaries, self-advocacy, peer pressure, dating, leadership skills, bullying, sexuality, physical development, selfimage, and personal safety. Led a weekly friendship group for 5th grade boys focused on fostering healthy friendships and appropriate social behavior. Classroom Guidance Over the course of the school year taught numerous 6th grade classes on organization, studying techniques, importance of education, learning modalities, manners, leadership skills, peer pressure, bullying, and interpersonal development. Developed and taught career guidance lesson plan to 4 th, 5th, 6th, and 8th grade students. Provided constructive feedback at counseling department meetings to discuss students with truancy issues, IEPS, 504 plans, or behavior issues. Participated in grade wide teachers meetings regarding students academic performance and classroom behavior. Contributed to school-wide collaboration sessions such as the Expect Respect bullying initiative, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), developed a presentation on discipline, participated in training to administer Oaks testing, and Crisis Team meetings.
