RADIANT HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS RADIANT ROLLOUT MAT

Radiant Rollout Mats

Uponors Radiant Rollout Mat provides a fast, efficient and consistent method for installing radiant heating and cooling systems in large commercial areas saving weeks of installation time, reducing worker strain and injury, providing dependable commissioning, limiting liability and meeting tight schedules. The mat consists of a customdesigned, prefabricated network of Uponor PEX-a tubing (Wirsbo hePEX barrier tubing or Uponor AquaPEX non-barrier tubing) connected with ProPEX1 engineered plastic (EP) fittings which are safe for burial in the slab.

PRODUCT GUIDE

Revolutionize the Installation of Commercial Radiant Heating and Cooling Systems

Significant Installation and Cost Savings
The Radiant Rollout Mat installs quickly and covers almost eight times more square feet in the same amount of time it takes using traditional installation methods, often reducing installation time in large commercial projects to just a couple of days instead of a couple of weeks up to an 85% reduction. For example, six contractors can install 35,000 square feet (16 to 19 mats) per day, as opposed to 4,500 square feet per day using conventional installation methods. Because it is pre-packaged and pre-pressurized, the Radiant Rollout Mat also provides hassle-free commissioning of a radiant floor heating and cooling system. Couple that with the built-in quality that comes with Uponor systems, building professionals can feel confident they are specifying a product that reduces mistakes and liabilities.

Substantial Installation Efficiency

The Radiant Rollout Mat covers approximately 8 times more square footage compared to traditional installation methods, reducing tubing installations to days instead of weeks.

On our project, six contractors installed 35,000 square feet (16 to 19 mats) per day, as opposed to only 4,500 square feet per day using conventional methods.

Consistent Performance Results

The pre-pressurized mats offer fast, easy commissioning of the system.

The performance of the Radiant Rollout Mat was right on target. After commissioning, the systems flow rates, pressures and heat exchange were performing to specs.

Radiant Rollout Mat FAQs

Why did Uponor develop the Radiant Rollout Mat?
The rollout mat provides important installation efficiencies in large, open-area commercial applications, allowing the contractor to lower installation costs, making radiant systems more economical. Using the mat also accelerates the construction schedule so buildings can open sooner.

What buildings are appropriate for installing the mat?

Ideal buildings are large, open areas that use a single-loop, counter-flow design. Examples include: Manufacturing Big-box retail stores Warehouses Maintenance shops Military and government facilities Airports and hangars Educational and institutional buildings Large atriums and lobbies

What is the warranty?

Uponor offers a 25-year limited warranty on PEX-a tubing and a 10-year limited warranty on ProPEX fittings.

What kind of cost savings can the Rollout Mat provide?

Depending on labor costs (which can vary dramatically across the U.S. and Canada), using the Radiant Rollout Mat can typically save approximately 20% to 40% on install costs compared to traditional radiant installation methods.

Why use the Radiant Rollout Mat instead of other manufacturers radiant products?
Uponor is the only manufacturer that offers ProPEX cold-expansion fittings that require the use of one relatively inexpensive tool to make fast, solid connections without the need for torches, glues, solvents or gauges. The speed and ease of ProPEX fittings make onsite customization a breeze. The radiant mat features two distribution flow options in-slab reverse-return header as well as wall manifolds. Uponor offers complete radiant and HVAC system control with the Climate C ontrol Network system.

How do I quote and order the product?

Send a completed Radiant Rollout Mat Design Request Input Form and CAD drawings detailing the building construction plans to the Uponor design services team at design.services@uponor.com. The Uponor design team will process the request form and notify the customer if it meets the pre-qualifications for a Radiant Rollout Mat design quote. If the mat design is quoted, a P.O. is necessary to start the mat construction process and the customer is contractually bound to the terms of the agreement.

How does Uponor Distribute the Rollout Mat?

Because the mats are custom manufactured at the Uponor facility, they cannot be stocked at a distributor. After being manufactured, the mats are drop shipped to the customers preferred location to the rep agency or to the jobsite. For complete details, contact Uponor Technical Services at 888.594.7726 or technical.services@uponor.com.

What is the freight policy?

The mat will ship F.O.B. destination.

What type of plastic is used to make the EP fittings in the in-slab reverse-return header option of the mat?
The EP fittings are made from UDEL1 polysulfone which is part of a family of polymers that have been used successfully in the demanding environments of medical appliance, aerospace, radiant heating and plumbing for many years.

Can using the Radiant Rollout Mat help earn LEED points?
Using the Radiant Rollout Mat in conjunction with an Uponor radiant heating and/or cooling system may help to earn LEED points. Note that in some cases, Uponor systems will need to integrate with other energyefficient systems, such as condensing boilers and geothermal systems, to be eligible for LEED points. Uponor does not guarantee any points under the LEED rating system.

What is the lead time?

Since the mats are custom built, lead times may vary from 4 to 8 weeks.

What do the mats cost?

Because the mats are custom manufactured, the pricing is job specific. For a quote, contact Uponor Technical Services at 888.594.7726 or technical.services@uponor.com.
