God's bringing women out of the shadows and into the center ofwhat He ts doing, This can be observed in the natural warld where wamen are functioning as judges, CEO's of Fortune 500 Companies, and even as Presidents of Nations. Neither business nor | nolitics can legally differentiate between male and female. Inthe church, God has been preparing wornen J "for such atime as this.” This is a unique time in history—a time of unparalleled opportunity. In this next season, God is calling each wornan to what He has uniquely designed herto de. During 2009, H the Women's Ministry is focused on equining women to be wornen of effective influence as they begin to step Into what God has been preparing them for. Our Novernber retreat with J. Lee Grady gave us a clear sense of God's heart towards women and an understanding of our inheritance as His Daughters. In March, we leamed how'to assess our gifts and wisely invest them formaximum influence ‘The Women's Bible Study has concluded its study of the life of Esther and egins its study of individual giftings, based on the book SHAPE. (Spiritual Gifts /HeartAbilitiestPersonalityfExperience). Participating women will gain a better understanding of how God links everything together to maximize impact. Women will begin to step into what God has heen preparing them for as they follow the Biblical examples of Deborah, Esther, ete. It's time for Christian women to know their rightful place in Gad and not let a lack of understanding keep them bound and ineffective, In May, Gatevay women will be encouraged by the mother-daughter ministry team af prophetic speaker, pastor, and songewriter Judy Buflum-Hemmila and her daughter, recording artist Virainia Hil Whether you are (1) a woman who is secure in your gifting and knows how God wants to use you, but Just need daors of opportunity opened, or (2} yau clon't know where or how you can be a woman of influence and need to begin seeing yourself through Gau’s eyes, of @) you have been resistantto God's working in your life and you need ta start assisting His work in you, 2009 can ke your year of breakthrough! Judy Buffum-Hemmila radiates the love of Jesus i through her down to earth personaity, contagious CO™ing to GateWay on May 23 sense of humor, and sensitive heart. Her message Judy Buffum-Hemmila! in music and teachings are ane in the same: hope, healing and restoration for all denominations and every generation. Known as a woman of integrity, humility, and faithfulness, God has used her to touch those in prisons, school assemblies, churches, conferences, and government functions. She has ministered with people like Younge Cho, Carman, Jack Hayford, Gloria Copeland, along with her daughters Tammy Trent and Virginia Hill and others. Judy is an ordain ed minister as well as the founder and president of Masters’ Vineyard, an inter national ministry that has reached 1,000's with the gospel of Christ, She is an accomplished vocalist author, and song writer (producing 8 albums), as well as an international speaker, She was the hast of her own Television program, "R ejoice,” for several years until circumstances drastically changed the direction of her ministry. On Sept. 108 2001 while singing on a television broadcast, Judy received word that her son-in-law had been involved ina diving accident in Jamaica and was missing. Due to the tragic events of Sept 11, she was unable to join her daughter Tammy who was isolated in Jamaica. Following her son in law's death, Judy took a year off from ministry to spend time healing with Tammy. After this she began traveling with "Women of Faith" which led to her position as Prayer Pastor for "Revolve," a ministry to teenage girls that reaches 4,000 to 10,000 at each event (16 were held last year) These days Judy is busy pouring into leaders and artists who are reaching the youth of America, Judy and her husband Keith co-pastor Crossfire Ministries Church in Rockford Michigan (www. crossfire-ministries.org) where they share a burden far reaching the lost and providing a safe place for people to heal and grow. Lee Grady, Novernber 2008 Mothers & Daughters Our speaker, Lee Grady, with Pastors David and Kathy ‘Cannistraci Here are just a couple testimonies of the healing that God did... ‘L was really looking forward to the Ladies Retreat im November. There's something to be eald for going to the mountains with a bunch of girls and collectively seeking Gods face... all swhile stil acting like girls! I went to the Retreat expecting something from God: a word, some direction, a touch... something ... anything really, because when It comes from God, it is always good. ‘As Lee Grady was speaking on Friday morning, he wat speaking about the woman at the well. He spoke on how broken che was, how full of shame her heart wat, how ltolated she must have felt, Brokenness, shame, and {eolatlon—all things I am familiar vith Then he sald romething that blew my mind and finally broke that wall of shame and feolation in my heart, He sald, "When thls woman met Jens, she went from being a victim to being a healer and evangelist” ‘When Imeet Jesus, He changes my identity—that ig, what Identify with. Iam no longer bound to the shame I had becaute I walked away from God and made many ralstakes. My heart doesnt have to stay in those deep recestes feeling the pain of my bad chotcer, [like my fellow elster, the woman at the well, have the Good News. Ihave met the One who knows everything about me, the One who knows my heart and sav the paln that lived there, the One who truly knows me for who Iwas... and till lover mell! Jesus did not tell the woman to walt until she was a little more like Godin her speech, form, or life in order to serve Him. He told her to immediately go out and tell evezyone about Him! I don't have to walt until Ia a"better’ woman, wife, or mor. Ican tell people about my Jerus now, right where I am, and tight how [ara* Nora "Before the retreat T had been struggling with lack of confidence and grief related to my mother's death about 18 months eatlier. Some of the struggle was related-to abanclonment issues that were deeply rooted from her abrupt disappearance for thiee years when was six. I cried and shared with my friends that I was straggling and thet thought it had something te do with my mom and some issues fiom childhood. They encouraged my heart, but the Lord was about to reveal himself to me in an undeniable miracle On Friday moming, the speaker, J. Lee Grady, began to shate about “great reversals” and our inheritance of healing. He talked about shame and other common needs of healing for women — abortion, abuse, domestic violence, and depression, among others. When he made the altar call, T went forward even though my specific need wasn't addressed onhis list. Iwas beginning to weep under the power of the Holy Spitit endl was questioning God, “But what about if your mom hurts you, why isn't he saying anything about thet, God, what ifyour mom hurts you?” Right about that time he walks over near to where was standing and says, “This woman righthere needs a hugfroma mom. You ladies send a mom down here to give her ahug” So you cen imagine, amy face is in my hands, I’m crying and a sweet older woman comes down and hugs me as she begins to pray forme. After afew moments, stepped back fom her to say thenk you. I fooked down at her name tag and it read “Rit,” which was my mom’sname. can’t explain the dynamic of what happened in my spirit at thet moment, but through it there was a“ great reversal” for me as I was delivered froma spisit, of rejection and God demonstrated his great love for me” Volexie Page2 Spring 2009 The Importance of Prayer By Pastor Ellen Laitinen eter was therefore Kept in prison, ut constant prayerwas offered fo God for him by the church” Acts 12:5 Peter had been going about doing the work ofthe ministry when King Herod decided to arresthim, Herod had been utilzed by the enerny to execute evil schemes to oppose and harass believers. He was already responsible for killing James, the brother of John Concemed for Peters life the church began to pray fervently and unceasing for Peters release. In response, the Lord sent an angel ta Pete's prison cell (cts 12: 7-10). This passaye paints a very clear picture ofthe church experiencing strong warfare as Peter and ather church members were spreading the gospel. This sarne batlle exists forthe church today. We have a very real enemy opposing us. Far Peter to continue to advance in the ministry, he needed other believers to intercede for him, Peter's miraculous release was a direct result atthe faithful prayers of the saints interceding on his behalf Here at GateWay we believe that prayeris closely inked to effective ministy. Forthis reason, we have a variety of prayer expressions that ourrnerbers can take part in. Everyone is weleame to attend our Saturday morning prayer meetings each week fram 6 -8 AM. orjoin us for pre-service prayer Sunday momings at 10.30 AM. upin the prayer room. lf you are interested in becoming involved in one of our prayer teams, please contact me for more information by ernailing me at EllenL@yoos|.cam ar by calling 408.281.7900 ext. 316, Get Involved ina Women’s Group at GateWay!
