Join the Army, to help protect our nation and stop the Nazis. Yes. This film showcased African Americans in a positive light...as athletes, lawyers, and oth er valued professionals. African Americans were portrayed as respectable and prominen t individuals, instead of being portrayed as slaves as was accustomed during that time pe riod, 1944. 3. How do you think the filmmaker wanted the audience to respond? By being proud of the United States and enlisting in the Army. 4. Does this film appeal more to the viewer's reason or emotion? How does it make you feel? Emotion; It makes me even more disgusted with Hitler and the German Regime than I a

For the time period, this film was very progressive, so it was enjoyable to watch a film b y the War Department promoting new opportunities being given to blacks.
