* Intermodal freight offers an environmentally friendly, energy efficient means of forwarding containerised
goods throughout Great Britain. It exploits the energy efficiency of trunk rail haulage with the flexibility of
door-to-door service. A Freightliner train can carry up to 75 containers, thereby substantially reducing the
number of lorries, and their environmental threat, from the road.
Early Career:
Deputy Operations Manager (1997-98)
Responsible for all terminal operations including train working, Health & Safety.
Implemented Freightliner’s Competency assessment programme in line with Railtrack's requirements.
Developed and advised on safety systems / reporting matters.
Advised senior management and personnel on statutory legislation whilst liaising with HSE, EHO visits Safety
Representatives and Committees.
