One-Hour Workshop Lesson Plan Learning Objective: The candidate will generate QR codes given a link to class website and a website of choice with 90% accuracy. NETs: 1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness 2. Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments a. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity b. Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress c. Customize and personalize learning activities to address students diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources d. Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching 3. Model Digital Age Work and Learning a. Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations b. Collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation

What are QR Codes? Why use them?

QR codes are quick response codes They are graphics, linked to websites Can be accessed from a smartphone/tablet with a QR code reader Can be used to link student work to the web Interactive, engaging tool for students and parents

Process: 1. Teacher will model QR code generation with screencast presentation highlighting: Hardware laptop, iPad/Smartphone Software/Apps QR Code Generator (http://qrcode.kaywa.com/), QR Reader App (various) 2. Candidate will practice creating QR code by using his/her individual classroom website and one additional website (free of choice) to generate new QR codes. 3. Candidate will print QR codes. 4. In partnerships, candidate will practice using iPad/smartphone to read new QR codes. Closing: Teacher will ask: Are QR codes engaging and useful? Why or why not? How do you envision using QR codes in your classroom? Which subject areas would QR codes be the most effective?

Assessment/Evaluation Method: Teacher will assess workshop by asking teachers to complete the workshop evaluation.
