1 LITERATURE REVIEW

1) The literature shows the librarians slightly negative attitude to relationships, but interestingly students and teachers responses reveal a much more positive view of support and accessibility by the library staff. ( RubinaBhatti, Department og Library and Information Science, The Islamic University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan, 2009 )

2) Connection and separation. Each individual brings to the central relationship a greater or lesser proclivity for both connection (closeness, intimacy) and separateness (independence, autonomy), the strengths of which are determined by the complex interaction og biological, developmental, psychodynamic, social, and cultural variables. ( Joshua John, The Psychological of New Zealand, 2005)

3) This requires that the individual be able to define his or her relationships with others in ways which are mutual and complementary. That means both people have similar and positive expectations for their behaviour together. (Cooley, 1956; Turner, 1971; Swensen, 1973)

4) The research indicates that people often have difficulty defining their interpersonal relationships on the job in a mutual and complementary manner. Differing expectations for behaviour in job relationships frequently result in absenteeism, accidents, grievances, resignations, and dismissals (Maier, 1973)

5) Studies by the federal government have shown that more than 90 percent of the people who leave their jobs do so not because a lack of technical competence but because of their inability to get along with their work associates. ( Hencley, 1973).
