DEFINITION
A change in belief or behaviour due to real or imagined group pressure. When we want to be liked by other people in a group; we want to feel accepted by them and not left out. Using behaviour of people around us for information when we are in an ambiguous situation and we are unsure of how to act. Following an order, instruction or command which is given by a figure of authority. When people put less effort into a task that is being performed with others. The loss of self awareness and sense of personal responsibility that occurs in members of a crowd. Bystander apathy and bystander intervention. When a bystander does not help the person in need. When a bystander does help the person in need. The more bystanders that witness an incident, the less likely it is that one of them will help.
