The Power Point contains a video, so I will need speakers as well. I will need to use the three computers for research as well as written resources in the room. Teaching strategies anticipatory strategies (background knowledge) I will ask the students to define a caste system. I will take hands. developmental strategies After a short Power Point lecture, I will split the class into five groups and assign them a certain caste to research. concluding strategies

Each group will describe their caste to the rest of the class after their research. Part of their presentation will be a rendering of a member of that certain class.

Assessment The students presentation to the class will be the formative and summative assessment. Accommodations/modifications to strategies or assessments My struggling learner is a very artistic learner. Part of the group assignment will involve creating art, addressing her strong learning intelligence. My advanced learner is a go getter, so the research part of the assignment appeals to her. My average learner has good leadership skills. I will not put them together, but they will be in mixed ability groups in situations where their strengths can come out. Wrap-up and reflection by the students Reflection by the teacher The introduction and review of the previous lesson was great. It helped the students get in the right frame of mind for the lesson. I tweaked the assignment before the lesson because I realized it would take too long. Upon giving it to the students I realized I hadnt thought the assignment out properly. There were several questions and many of the students didnt understand the assignment. After we handled the confusion, we moved to the computer lab where the students researched diligently. Realizing there wasnt enough time, I extended the lesson to the following day. Included in the assignment was a visual representation of the Indian caste system. Only a couple of groups got really creative. Overall the assignment was not executed efficiently. The idea was good but the execution was lacking. However, I do believe the students led much about the caste system. Today I grouped my unique learners together to differentiate and see what they would come up with together. They decided to make their representation Winnie the Pooh. It was the second most creative idea in the class and they gave good explanations for their design. The

reason it only warranted an eighty-five is because it was very similar to the model they had to go off of from the PowerPoint.
